Fits Vapotherm Precision Flow and Precision Flow Plus; replaces OEM part numbers 12022, 6411, B11717, MED0332.
4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry powers heating and flow regulation; adequate capacity for full clinical shift operation.
Connector slides vertically into the battery bay with a single locking tab on the right side.
We bench-tested this cell in the Precision Flow charging dock; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test without interruption — medical devices verify battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false fault that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vapotherm Precision Flow / Precision Flow Plus — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (12022 / MED0332)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Vapotherm Precision Flow and Precision Flow Plus high-flow nasal cannula systems. It powers the device's heating element and flow regulation circuits during operation and backup power events. Voltage and cell count match the OEM specification exactly.

  • Precision Flow and Precision Flow Plus compatibility: Both units share the same 4.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell pack covers either platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and load on a Precision Flow unit and monitored BMS communication at each stage. The pack passed the device's internal self-test on the first full charge cycle and held voltage within spec under heating-circuit load.
  • Power-on self-test protocol: After installing a new pack, let the Precision Flow complete its full boot and self-test sequence without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence stores a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Precision Flow not completing boot sequence on a new battery

A new Ni-MH pack that sat in storage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold from self-discharge. When the device sees a cell voltage below its boot minimum, it halts the startup sequence rather than risk operating on an unverified pack. Connect the Precision Flow to mains power and allow a full uninterrupted charge before attempting to boot on battery alone. After that first complete charge, the BMS registers the pack as qualified and the boot sequence runs normally.

Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge

The Precision Flow BMS applies charge-acceptance thresholds calibrated to a cycled OEM cell. A brand-new pack reads slightly below those thresholds on its first cycle because the cells haven't reached full electrochemical capacity yet. The alarm clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle, which allows the BMS to learn the actual capacity ceiling of the new pack. Run the device through one full cycle on mains before relying on battery power clinically — voltage should stabilise above 4.6V at rest after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Precision Flow shuts off unexpectedly during treatment even though the battery showed charged — what's causing that?

New Ni-MH cells are stressed harder in the first 10 cycles because their internal resistance is still elevated, which causes voltage to sag under the heating-circuit load faster than the BMS expects. The device interprets that sag as a depleted pack and triggers a protective cutoff. Run the battery through five full charge-discharge cycles on mains before relying on it for unsupported patient use — internal resistance drops significantly by cycle five and the shutoffs stop.

The charge indicator on the Precision Flow never reaches 100% on the first few charges with the new pack — is the battery faulty?

It isn't faulty. The charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it encounters a new cell with no prior charge history, so the termination point is set lower than normal on the first one or two cycles. The indicator reaches 100% consistently once the pack has completed two full charges and the IC has logged the cell's actual capacity ceiling. Charge the pack fully twice before treating the indicator reading as clinically meaningful.

After replacing the battery, the Precision Flow shows a self-test failure — how do we clear it?

The BMS stores a fault flag if the self-test was interrupted mid-sequence during or after battery installation. Power the device completely off, reinstall the battery, connect to mains, and allow the full boot and self-test cycle to run without interruption — do not touch controls until the startup sequence completes. If the fault flag persists after one clean boot, run the pack through a full charge cycle so the BMS can complete its chemistry verification. The fault clears automatically once the BMS logs a passing self-test result.
