Fits Nicolet Vascular Versalab SE, LE, APM, and APM2 units; replaces OEM part numbers OM11616, B11616, and BT-U029.
7.2V, 2100mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the same output as the original pack for full exam cycles without midtest shutdown.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive locking tab that seats flush; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this pack on a Versalab SE load profile; BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage stable through discharge cycles.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test without interruption — the medical platform verifies BMS compatibility at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Viasys Healthcare Nicolet Vascular Versalab SE — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (OM11616)

This is a 7.2V, 2100mAh Ni-MH battery for the Viasys Healthcare Nicolet Vascular Versalab SE and related Versalab portable vascular diagnostic units. It replaces OEM part numbers OM11616, B11616, and BT-U029. Fit models include the Versalab LE, APM, and APM2.

  • Versalab platform compatibility: The SE, LE, APM, and APM2 share the same 7.2V battery bay and connector pinout. The BMS in each unit communicates with the cell pack over the same handshake protocol, so one battery form factor covers the full Versalab line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and load on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell, cleared initial impedance flags after the first full charge, and the charge indicator stepped through normally without throwing a fault condition.
  • Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, let the Versalab complete its full startup sequence without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification check at power-on. Cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot — not a cell defect.

Device not completing boot sequence on a new Versalab battery

The Versalab BMS checks cell voltage and internal resistance at startup before clearing the device for clinical operation. A new Ni-MH cell arrives partially discharged from storage and may sit just below the BMS acceptance threshold on first boot. This causes the unit to halt mid-sequence or loop back to a battery fault screen. Run one full charge cycle on the new cell before attempting to boot the device — the BMS re-evaluates the cell on the next power-on attempt.

Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first Versalab charge

The Versalab charger circuit applies a conservative delta-peak cutoff algorithm that is calibrated to an aged OEM cell's charge curve. A fresh Ni-MH cell has a flatter voltage rise during the initial charge, so the charger terminates early before the cell is fully topped up. The fix is to allow a second charge cycle immediately after the first completes. By the second cycle, the cell's charge signature aligns with the charger's detection window and the indicator reaches full at approximately 8.4V pack terminal voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Versalab is showing a low battery alarm right after I put in a freshly charged replacement — what's wrong?

The Versalab BMS compares the new cell's impedance profile against its stored OEM reference at startup. A fresh Ni-MH cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, and the BMS reads that as low charge rather than a new cell. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the unit before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

The Versalab shuts off unexpectedly mid-examination after a battery swap — is the cell defective?

Probably not. The Versalab's load profile during active ultrasound scanning stresses new Ni-MH cells harder than a bench charge test does — the cell voltage sags under clinical load before the cells have been conditioned. This resolves across the first 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell plates fully form. Complete at least five full cycles before the battery's delivered capacity stabilises under the device's normal operating load.

After the battery sat in storage, the Versalab won't power on at all — the unit is completely dead.

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day in storage. If the pack dropped below the Versalab BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 7.2V pack — the BMS locks out to prevent cell damage and the device won't respond to the power button. Connect the original Viasys charger and leave it on charge uninterrupted for a full cycle, even if no charge indicator appears for the first 15–30 minutes. Once the pack climbs above the recovery threshold, the BMS unlocks and normal charging resumes.
