Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Logicom L-ement Tab 741 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (El-357090p-003-268)
This 3.8V, 2300mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Logicom L-ement Tab 741 tablet. It matches the OEM part number El-357090p-003-268 and fits the physical bay at 87.10 × 63.70 × 3.40mm. Capacity is rated at 8.74Wh, matching the stock specification.
- L-ement Tab 741 fitment: This cell is keyed to the Tab 741's connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping a cell with mismatched impedance or voltage tolerance can cause the charge IC to reject the cell entirely or report incorrect state-of-charge figures from the first cycle.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on the Tab 741 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, and the charge IC held a stable current profile through both trickle and constant-current phases.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before resuming normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Why the L-ement Tab 741 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Tab 741 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model against the old cell's impedance profile. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches the actual discharge behaviour of the replacement. The gauge compensates by jumping or locking to inaccurate percentages until it accumulates enough cycle data to rebuild the model. One full discharge from 100% to automatic cutoff, followed by a complete charge, forces the coulomb counter to reset and recalibrate to the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet recalibrated and the displayed percentage no longer reflects the cell's actual resting voltage under load. The screen or connectivity stack draws a current spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. The tablet shuts off to protect the cell from over-discharge. Run the recalibration cycle described above; after one full discharge-charge pass, the gauge aligns the cutoff trigger to the correct voltage window, typically around 3.2–3.4V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Tab 741 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell during extended storage — this is a protective cutoff, not a dead cell. Connect the tablet to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on; the charge IC runs a trickle recovery current that brings the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, the BMS has re-initialised and normal charging resumes. If no indicator appears after 45 minutes, check that the connector is fully seated on both the battery and board side.
Fast charging has stopped working since fitting this replacement battery — the Tab 741 now only charges slowly.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the Tab 741 may not negotiate the higher current profile until the BMS has completed one standard charge pass and confirmed cell stability. This is normal behaviour — run one full charge at the slow rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger. If fast charging still does not resume after that cycle, confirm the charger output matches the OEM specification; a charger delivering below the required voltage threshold will not trigger the fast-charge handshake regardless of battery condition.
The battery percentage on the Tab 741 keeps jumping around erratically — it went from 60% to 34% without warning.
Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap mean the fuel gauge IC's coulomb counter is still using the discharge curve from the old cell. The new cell has a slightly different impedance profile, so the gauge misfires its voltage-to-percentage conversion, especially mid-discharge where the curve deviates most. Run one uninterrupted full discharge — let the tablet shut itself off automatically — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle, the fuel gauge rebuilds its model against the actual new cell curve and the percentage readout stabilises.
