Fits Motorola RAZR I, MT788, XT890, and Electrify M; replaces OEM part EG30 and SNN5916A.
3.8V lithium-polymer cell rated 1940mAh delivers 7.37Wh—enough capacity to restore a full day of typical smartphone use on this device.
Connector is proprietary Motorola contact plate; slides into battery door slot with locking tab on left edge facing the device frame.
We ran full charge-discharge cycles on a RAZR I unit; the BMS accepted voltage ramp without cutoff, fuel gauge IC initialized without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle—this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola RAZR I / XT890 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EG30 / SNN5916A)

This 3.8V, 1940mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the EG30 battery in the Motorola RAZR I, XT890, MT788, and Electrify M. It matches the original's flat pouch form factor and connector pinout. Capacity comes from the cell itself — 1940mAh at 7.37Wh.

  • RAZR I / XT890 platform fit: These models share the same 3.8V power rail, EG30 connector, and BMS handshake protocol. The fuel gauge IC on each device expects a cell with matching discharge curve characteristics — this cell meets that spec.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on the XT890. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC held a stable current through the CC/CV transition at 4.35V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build a fresh discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the RAZR I after a cell swap

The RAZR I's fuel gauge IC carries calibration data from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored discharge curve no longer matches real-world voltage behaviour. The phone sees what it thinks is 25% charge, but the cell voltage has already dropped below the modem's minimum threshold under load. The result is an abrupt shutdown — not a fault, just a mismatch. One full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging off resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

OS reporting erratic or frozen battery percentage after replacement

If the percentage sticks at a fixed number or jumps by large increments, the fuel gauge IC is reading a cell it has no calibration data for. This is common after any cell swap and is not a defective battery. Force the phone to 0% by letting it power off naturally under load, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one complete cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and percentage reporting stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RAZR I shut off at 28% right after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the RAZR I stores a discharge curve calibrated to the original EG30 cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored data no longer matches the real voltage drop under modem or screen load, so the phone cuts power while the cell still has charge left. Run one full discharge — let the phone power off on its own — then charge to 100% with fast charging disabled. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my XT890 — was it working before?

Yes, and it will work again. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the RAZR I / XT890 can reject the proprietary fast-charge protocol because the BMS has not yet validated the new cell's internal resistance profile. Complete one slow charge-discharge cycle first. After that, the charge IC recognises the cell's impedance signature and re-enables high-current charging on subsequent cycles.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first charge — is that normal?

A new lithium-polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. During early charge cycles, slightly more energy is lost as heat across that resistance. This is normal and reduces after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, stop the charge, let it cool to room temperature, and restart — charge IC thermal protection should kick in at around 45°C.
