Fits Xiaomi Max and Mi Max Dual SIM models; replaces OEM battery BM49.
3.85V, 4750mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full charge cycles on devices that shut down prematurely or report inaccurate percentage.
Connector type is Xiaomi proprietary two-pin; slides straight into slot with no locking tab — ensure cable seats flush before closing cover.
We bench-tested this cell on a Max unit; fuel gauge IC recognized the pack after first full discharge-charge cycle without errors or voltage sag under load.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Mi Max Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM49)

The BM49 is a 3.85V, 4750mAh Li-Polymer cell that fits the Xiaomi Mi Max, Mi Max Dual SIM, Mi Max Dual SIM TD-LTE, and 2016002 variants. It replaces a degraded original cell that no longer holds charge through a normal day. Capacity is rated at 18.29Wh.

  • Mi Max platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The BM49 cell measures 99.46 x 77.00 x 3.46mm — exact to the original bay. No connector adapters required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on Mi Max hardware. The BMS accepted charge at full current after the first complete cycle, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff with no false shutdowns.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before fast charging pushes high current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BM49 after installation

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's voltage curve in memory. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem or screen load, and the phone's hardware under-voltage protection cuts power before the OS percentage counter reaches zero. The fuel gauge reads 25% but the actual cell voltage is already below the cutoff threshold. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most unexpected shutdowns.

Mi Max not powering on after the BM49 sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the BM49 dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone shows nothing when you press the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any button. The BMS needs a trickle current to recover from lockout before the charge IC hands off to normal fast-charge mode. If the charge LED does not activate within 30 minutes, try a different cable and confirm the charger outputs at least 5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Mi Max percentage jumps around after fitting the BM49 — it went from 60% to 40% in two minutes. What's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and is misreading the new cell's voltage profile. The coulomb counter in the Xiaomi fuel gauge chip needs a full reference cycle to build an accurate state-of-charge map. Run the phone down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled. After that one cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my Mi Max after I put in the new BM49 — it only trickle charges now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to trickle mode because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its initialisation handshake with the phone's PMIC. This is not a fault with the cell. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the fast-charge handshake re-establishes on the second session. If fast charging still does not activate, test with the original Xiaomi cable, as third-party cables can break the proprietary protocol negotiation.

The Mi Max gets noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges with the BM49. Is that normal?

A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell converts more energy to heat than a broken-in cell during early charge cycles, so mild warmth near the battery bay in the first two or three sessions is expected. The phone should not be hot to the touch — warm is acceptable, hot is not. Keep the phone out of a case for the first full charge to let heat dissipate freely. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or triggers a temperature warning on screen, stop charging and check that the battery connector is fully seated flat with no lifted pins.
