Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP G6000 / dv2000 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNN-IB31)
This is a 10.8V, 8800mAh (95.04Wh) lithium-ion battery for HP G6000, G7000, Pavilion dv2000, and dv2000T notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers including HSTNN-IB31, HSTNN-DB31, and 432306-001, among others. The cell fits the standard HP battery bay used across this notebook generation.
- G6000 and dv2000 platform compatibility: HP used a shared battery platform across the G6000, G7000, and dv2000 series — same connector pinout, same 10.8V rail, and the same BMS handshake protocol. A single cell revision covers all of them.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a G6000 chassis and confirmed the BMS completed a full charge cycle without triggering a fault. The fuel gauge IC acknowledged the new cell within one full charge-discharge pass.
- First-cycle reset on HP G-series notebooks: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on these machines.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after installation
The HP G6000 BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not from live cell measurements. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM contains factory baseline data that doesn't match the BIOS's learned profile from the old battery. The system flags this as degraded health, even on a fresh cell. Run one full charge-discharge cycle to allow the BIOS to rewrite its battery data against the new cell's actual readings.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge underestimates remaining capacity and triggers a low-battery shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. It's a calibration lag, not a defective cell. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles, charging to 100% each time, and the OS percentage readout will stabilise — the shutdowns stop once the gauge maps the actual voltage cliff of the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HP G6000 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and never moves — what's happening?
The BIOS is reading stale EEPROM data from the old battery profile and hasn't accepted the new cell yet. This shows up as a frozen 0% or "unknown battery" state in Windows. Let the laptop charge uninterrupted for a full cycle without interrupting it — the BIOS battery learn routine completes at 100% and the gauge resets. If it persists after one full cycle, run the HP Battery Check utility to force a re-initialisation.
Windows is showing this battery as 41Wh but the cell is rated 95Wh — why is the Wh figure wrong in system info?
The Wh figure Windows displays pulls from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery firmware, not from a live measurement. On a freshly installed cell, the reported design capacity can reflect the old cell's worn-down EEPROM value until the BIOS rewrites it. Run one complete discharge to hibernate cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle the BIOS recalculates and logs the correct 95.04Wh figure.
The G6000 charges to 80% and then stops — the charger light goes green but the battery never reaches 100%. Is this a faulty cell?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a cell fault. HP's firmware on some G-series units ships with a battery care mode enabled that caps charging at 80% to reduce heat during AC-only use. Open HP Power Manager (or HP Battery Manager if installed) and check the charge level setting — switch it from "Maximize Battery Life" to "Maximize Battery Charge." The battery will then charge to 100% on the next cycle.
