Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP OMEN 16-K0010NA — 11.58V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (WK06XL)
This is an 11.58V, 7000mAh (81.06Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the HP OMEN 16-K0010NA and the broader OMEN 16-K and 17-CK series gaming notebooks. It replaces OEM part WK06XL and cross-references M41711-005, TPN-Q280, and HSTNN-OB21. Fit the battery when the original cell no longer holds charge under gaming or heavy CPU load.
- OMEN 16-K and 17-CK series compatibility: These models share the same three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, 11.58V rail, and TPN-Q280 connector pinout. The BMS handshake uses the same EEPROM protocol across the K0010NA, K0734NZ, K0007NS, and CK1035NB variants — one battery covers the full generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles on the OMEN platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the HP EC firmware, reported Wh capacity within spec, and held the voltage rail stable under sustained GPU and CPU draw without triggering a protection cutoff.
- First cycle after installation: After fitting this battery, run a full discharge until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the HP BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that otherwise persists after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
HP's EC firmware stores battery health data in EEPROM — it does not auto-clear when a new cell is installed. The system reads the old degradation flags and immediately flags the replacement as poor. This is a firmware state issue, not a fault with the new cell. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to trigger the BIOS learn cycle and write fresh health data.
Laptop cuts out at 20–30% charge shown on the OMEN under gaming load
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The OS shows 25% remaining, but the cell voltage has already dropped below the minimum threshold under full CPU plus GPU draw — the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. It is not a faulty battery. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles. After calibration, the fuel gauge tracks actual cell voltage accurately and the cutouts stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does HP System Information show the wrong Wh rating after I fitted this battery?
The Wh figure shown in HP Support Assistant or BIOS pulls from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the OEM-rated chemistry value. New cells can show a slightly different Wh number until the BIOS learn cycle runs and rewrites the data against actual measured capacity. Run one full discharge to hibernate then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle the reported Wh should align with the 81.06Wh spec.
The OS fuel gauge is jumping all over the place in the first few days — 60%, then 80%, then 45% without much change in use. Is the battery defective?
The fuel gauge IC inside the battery has to learn the new cell's discharge curve before it can report accurately. Until it does, the percentage readout drifts. This is normal for the first two to three full cycles. Run complete discharges to hibernate-cutoff and full charges to 100% without interrupting mid-cycle. The gauge stabilises after the IC has mapped the full voltage range of the new cell.
Charge stops at 80% and never goes higher — HP battery settings show no limit is set. What is blocking it?
HP BIOS on OMEN series includes a firmware-level charge limit that can be active independently of the Windows HP software toggle. Go into BIOS (F10 at boot), navigate to Power Management, and check the Battery Charge Mode or Adaptive Battery setting. If it is set to "Optimized" or "Extended Life", the firmware caps charge at 80%. Switch it to "Full Charge" mode and the battery will charge to 100%.
