Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 1 — 7.72V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L19L4P70)
This 7.72V, 6400mAh (49.41Wh) Li-Polymer cell replaces the original L19L4P70 battery in the ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 1 series. It fits the 20RL000HPG, 20RL0015IV, 20RL000YBM, 20RL001LYA, and 123 additional X1 Fold Gen 1 variants. Same voltage, same connector, same BMS handshake as the factory cell.
- X1 Fold Gen 1 platform fit: Every 20RL-series model shares the same battery bay geometry, 7.72V rail, and L19-series BMS protocol. That common architecture means one cell covers the full production run without adapter or firmware workarounds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 1 unit and confirmed the BMS handshake completed on first boot — Windows reported full Wh capacity within two charge cycles, and thermal cutoff thresholds matched factory spec.
- Post-install calibration on the X1 Fold: After fitting, run one full discharge down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacing the X1 Fold cell
The ThinkPad BIOS reads health data from the cell's EEPROM and compares it against the previous cell's logged cycle count and capacity history. A fresh cell has no accumulated data, so the BIOS flags it as degraded or unknown on first boot. This is a firmware interpretation issue, not a fault with the new cell. Run the battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — and the BIOS recalibrates against the new cell's EEPROM within two cycles.
X1 Fold shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
The foldable display and CPU together draw peak current that a degraded or poorly calibrated cell cannot sustain at lower state-of-charge — voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches 0%. The fuel gauge IC is reading stored EEPROM data from the old cell, so its percentage estimate is wrong. Recalibrate by running the full discharge-to-hibernate cycle once, which forces the fuel gauge IC to map the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that reset, the shutdown threshold should align to 5–8% remaining at approximately 6.0V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ThinkPad X1 Fold shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC in the X1 Fold reads capacity data from the cell's EEPROM, and a replacement cell has no cycle history loaded yet. Windows reports 0% or unknown until the IC maps the new cell's voltage curve against actual charge. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle, Windows should display the correct percentage and full 49.41Wh rating in the battery report.
Windows Battery Report shows the new cell at a lower Wh rating than the 49.41Wh spec — is the cell faulty?
The Wh figure Windows pulls on first boot comes from the EEPROM header on the new cell, which reflects rated chemistry data before any calibration against this specific device. The discrepancy is not a cell fault. Complete one full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycle. The fuel gauge IC will recalculate design capacity against the measured voltage curve, and the Battery Report figure should align to 49.41Wh by the second cycle.
The X1 Fold won't charge above 80% after the battery swap — is the replacement cell defective?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a cell fault. Lenovo's power management firmware on the ThinkPad X1 Fold includes a Conservation Mode setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check Lenovo Vantage under Power → Battery Settings and confirm Conservation Mode is switched off. Once disabled, the cell will charge to 100%.
