Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mitsubishi M70 — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery
This 3.6V, 2600mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell replaces the backup battery in the Mitsubishi M70 PLC. It maintains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock during power loss. Without a functioning cell, the controller loses stored data and clock synchronisation the moment mains power drops.
- M70 controller backup rail: The M70 uses a dedicated 3.6V backup rail to sustain SRAM and the RTC independent of the main power supply. This cell connects directly to that rail. Li-MnO2 chemistry holds a flat discharge curve across the full backup window, which keeps the retention voltage above the SRAM threshold until mains power is restored.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under simulated backup load and confirmed the BMS held output voltage stable above the 3.0V SRAM retention floor throughout the discharge cycle. No voltage sag or early cutoff was recorded.
- Live-swap procedure for the M70: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is off will erase SRAM immediately — the backup rail has no capacitor bridge. If the swap was made with power off, a full program reload from the programming device is required before restart.
Why the M70 loses program memory after a battery swap
SRAM on the M70 is volatile — it needs continuous voltage from either the main supply or the backup cell to retain data. There is no supercapacitor buffer on this platform. If the old cell is removed even briefly while the PLC is off, the SRAM contents are gone. The only recovery path is reloading the program from a connected programming device before attempting to restart the controller.
Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation
The M70 latches the battery fault flag in firmware — it does not auto-clear when a new cell is detected. After fitting the replacement with the PLC live, the alarm must be manually reset through the programming software or the controller's maintenance screen. A new cell reading slightly below 3.6V at installation is normal — Li-MnO2 ships at storage voltage and rises to rated voltage within a few hours on the PLC float charge. Confirm cell voltage is climbing before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
The M70 battery alarm is still showing after I fitted the new cell — did I get a dead battery?
Almost certainly not. The M70 latches the battery fault flag and will not clear it automatically when a new cell is installed. You need to manually reset the alarm through the programming software or the controller's maintenance menu. Also note that a fresh Li-MnO2 cell ships at storage voltage — slightly below 3.6V rated — and will rise to full voltage within a few hours on the PLC float charge. Reset the alarm first, then re-check.
My M70 is showing the correct program but the clock is wrong after the battery swap — what happened?
The RTC lost sync during the swap. This happens when power to the backup rail was interrupted, even briefly, while the PLC was off — the clock register cleared along with any other volatile data. The program survived only if it was stored in non-volatile flash separately. Set the date and time manually in the programming software and confirm the new cell is holding charge above 3.0V to prevent it drifting again.
The M70 battery seems to need replacing more often than the spec suggests — what shortens the service life?
Enclosure temperature is the main factor. Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 25°C. An M70 installed in a warm panel or near heat-generating drives can deplete a cell in a fraction of the rated shelf life. Check the ambient temperature inside the enclosure — if it consistently runs above 40°C, schedule battery inspections at shorter intervals and consider improving enclosure ventilation to bring the internal temperature down.
