Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

3M PL300 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PL-300-BAT)
This 7.4V, 1600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original PL-300-BAT cell in the 3M PL300 portable label printer. It fits the compact thermal print unit used in retail stockrooms, logistics hubs, and office environments where on-demand label printing happens away from a fixed workstation. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.
- PL300 platform fit: The PL300 runs a single-cell 7.4V nominal Li-ion pack with a proprietary connector and BMS handshake that governs thermal head activation and paper feed motor torque. This replacement uses the same voltage rail and connector pinout, so the printer firmware recognises the pack without flags or lockout.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the PL300's print sequence — thermal head draw, paper feed motor engagement, and Bluetooth radio load — and the BMS held steady through each phase without triggering voltage sag cutoff.
- First-install print sequence: After fitting and charging to full, run five test labels before deploying the printer in the field. The paper feed motor draws a calibration current spike on each print cycle, and completing five prints confirms the BMS current profile is correctly set for the new cell.
Why the PL300 won't print after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per month, but the PL300's BMS sets a minimum drive voltage threshold before it will energise the thermal head. If the pack drops below approximately 6.4V during storage, the printer powers on but refuses to print — the BMS withholds current to protect the cell. Plug into a charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to print. Once the pack climbs back above the threshold, the print function restores without any reset procedure.
Faded or uneven print across the label width
The thermal print head requires a stable voltage supply to heat each dot element to the correct activation temperature. When the battery is low or the cell is degraded, voltage sags mid-print cycle and some dot elements don't reach full temperature — the result is pale bands or uneven density across the label. This is not a head fault or a media issue. Charge the battery fully and reprint; if the fading disappears, the original cell had lost capacity. A fresh pack at full charge resolves the issue at the source.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PL300 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection halfway through a print job — is this the battery?
Yes, the Bluetooth radio in the PL300 draws a secondary power burst during active data transmission, and when the battery charge is low the pack voltage sags enough to interrupt that radio burst. The printer drops the connection before the job completes. Charge the battery to full and check whether the dropouts stop — if they do, the original cell had degraded below the voltage needed to sustain simultaneous print head and radio load. A replacement pack at 7.4V nominal eliminates the sag.
The paper feed is jamming even though the PL300 powers on fine — what's causing it?
The paper feed motor relies on enough torque to pull media through the print path, and torque drops directly with supply voltage. When the battery is partially discharged, the motor turns but can't generate sufficient feed pressure — the label stock stalls or skews, which the printer registers as a jam. Power off, remove any stalled media, charge the battery fully to restore the 7.4V supply, then reload the media and retry the feed.
The PL300 printed fine yesterday but this morning it powers on and immediately shuts off — what happened?
Overnight self-discharge on a degraded cell can pull the pack below the BMS hard cutoff floor. When that threshold is crossed, the BMS disconnects the output to prevent deep discharge damage — the printer sees no sustained voltage and shuts down within seconds of powering on. Connect the charger and leave it for 45 minutes before attempting to power on again. If the printer stabilises, the original cell has lost enough capacity that it can no longer hold charge overnight and a replacement is needed.
