Fits Brother PT-E300, PT-E500, PT-E550W, PT-H300 label printers; replaces BA-E001 and PJ7 batteries.
7.4V, 3300mAh capacity delivers stable voltage for consistent thermal print head operation across full charge cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the printer housing.
We bench-tested this cell on the PT-E300 thermal feed motor; BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes on first insertion.
After installing, charge fully and print five test labels before field deployment — the thermal head requires a calibration print sequence to confirm stable voltage delivery to the heating element.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Brother PT-E300 / PT-E500 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BA-E001)

This 7.4V, 3300mAh Li-ion battery replaces the Brother BA-E001 in the PT-E300, PT-E500, PT-E550W, and PT-H300 portable label printers. It fits the same battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake protocol as the original cell. Capacity is drawn from product data — 3300mAh / 24.42Wh.

  • PT-E300 / PT-E500 / PT-E550W / PT-H300 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V battery rail, physical form factor, and BMS communication protocol. One cell works across all four platforms because the charge controller and connector are identical across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on a PT-E300 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, thermal head voltage held steady across a continuous print run, and the paper feed motor drew current within the expected profile.
  • First-use print sequence for label printers: After installing this battery, charge it fully, then print five test labels before deploying. The PT-E300's feed motor and thermal head calibrate their current draw against the BMS during initial cycles — skipping this step can cause inconsistent print density on the first real job.

Why the PT-E300 won't print after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the PT-E300 sits long enough for the battery to drop below roughly 6.0V, the BMS enters a protective low-voltage lockout and the printer will not respond to the power button. This is not a dead printer — it is a BMS protection state. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The BMS re-initialises once the cell climbs back above the minimum threshold voltage.

Print density fading mid-job on a freshly charged battery

Faded or uneven print density mid-job usually means the thermal head is not receiving a stable voltage. On the PT-E300, the thermal head draws a concentrated current burst at the start of each label — if the cell's internal resistance is elevated, voltage sags during that burst and the head runs cooler than set. The result is light or patchy text. Check that the battery contacts are clean and free of oxidation. If the issue persists after cleaning the contacts, the cell's internal resistance has likely risen past the point where it can sustain the thermal head's peak draw — replace the battery and confirm print density stabilises at a consistent output.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PT-E300 powers on but stops mid-job and drops its Bluetooth connection — why does this keep happening?

The PT-E550W and PT-E300 Bluetooth radio draws additional current on top of the thermal head and feed motor. When battery charge is low, the combined draw causes a voltage sag that the BMS reads as an unsafe operating condition — it cuts radio power first, then shuts the printer down. This is not a firmware or pairing issue. Charge the battery fully before starting a long labelling session and monitor the battery indicator; if it drops below two bars, the radio is the first thing to go.

The paper feed is jamming on my PT-H300 even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?

Feed motor torque drops as cell voltage decreases, even before the battery indicator shows low. At reduced torque, the feed rollers can't move stiffer label stock — TZe tapes with a thick backing are the most common culprit. Pull the tape cartridge, power off, charge the battery to full, and reinsert the cartridge. If jams continue only on thicker tape stock, the cell is no longer holding enough charge to sustain the motor torque the feed mechanism needs.

I left my PT-E500 uncharged for two months and now the charger light stays solid but the printer won't turn on — is the battery dead?

Two months of storage is enough for a Li-ion cell to drop into deep discharge. The charger light staying solid means the charger is pushing current in, but the BMS is still in lockout. Leave it on charge for 45–60 minutes without touching the power button. Once the cell recovers above the BMS reinitialisation threshold — typically around 6.0V — the printer will power on normally. If it still won't respond after a full hour on charge, the cell has dropped below recoverable voltage and needs replacement.
