Fits Seiko MP-B20 portable printer; replaces OEM part numbers IS496, BP-B0326-A1, BP-B0326-B1, and 4331304.
3.7V, 3350mAh cell delivers 12.4Wh — sufficient voltage for consistent thermal head operation and motor torque across full charge cycles.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot; locking tab engages on both sides when fully seated and locked clockwise.
We bench-tested this cell in an MP-B20 unit; BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion with no fault codes or cutoff events.
After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment — the thermal head requires stable voltage confirmation across the motor drive circuit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Seiko MP-B20 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (IS496)

This 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion battery is a direct replacement for the Seiko MP-B20 portable thermal printer. It fits the compact battery bay used in retail, hospitality, and logistics environments where continuous mobile printing is required. OEM cross-references include IS496, BP-B0326-A1, BP-B0326-B1, and 4331304.

  • MP-B20 battery bay compatibility: The MP-B20 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a specific BMS handshake that manages thermal head current draw and paper feed motor spikes. This replacement matches the original connector pinout and communicates correctly with the printer's charge controller.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, discharge, and motor-start cycles on the MP-B20 platform. The BMS handled peak current from the paper feed motor without tripping, and the thermal head maintained consistent voltage throughout the print cycle.
  • First-deployment print sequence: After installing, charge the battery fully, then print five test receipts before deploying to the field. The MP-B20's BMS updates its current profile during these initial print cycles — skipping this step can cause the printer to flag a low-battery warning even at full charge.

Why the MP-B20 drops its Bluetooth connection mid-print job

The MP-B20 runs both its Bluetooth radio and thermal head from the same 3.7V cell. When battery voltage sags under print load, the radio draws less power from a shrinking headroom and the host device reads that as a dropout. This becomes more frequent as cell capacity fades over charge cycles. A fresh cell with full capacity keeps voltage above the 3.4V floor the radio needs to maintain its connection throughout a print job.

Print output faded or inconsistent on a charged battery

The MP-B20's thermal head requires a stable supply voltage to reach the correct print temperature. A degraded cell may read 100% on the status indicator but sag to 3.3V or lower the moment the thermal head fires, producing uneven or washed-out receipts. This is a cell degradation issue, not a paper or head fault. Replace the battery and confirm resting voltage holds above 3.6V after a full charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MP-B20 shows a full charge but won't start printing — what's wrong?

A battery that reads full but fails to drive the printer has likely degraded to the point where its voltage collapses below 3.4V the moment the paper feed motor draws current. The printer's BMS interprets this as a fault and blocks the print cycle. Check resting voltage with a multimeter — anything below 3.6V after a full charge means the cell needs replacing.

The MP-B20 paper feed is jamming even though the battery is charged — is this a battery issue?

Yes, it can be. The feed motor relies on sustained torque, which drops when cell voltage sags under load. At 3.3V or below, the motor lacks the drive pressure to pull paper cleanly through the mechanism, causing partial feeds or jams. Swap in a fresh battery and attempt the feed again — if the jam clears, the old cell was the cause.

My MP-B20 was stored for several months and now the printer won't wake up — how do I recover it?

After long storage, a Li-ion cell can drop below the BMS minimum activation threshold, which on the MP-B20 is approximately 3.0V. The printer won't respond to the power button because the BMS is in lockout. Connect the printer to its charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — if the charge LED doesn't activate at all, the cell has dropped below recovery voltage and requires replacement.
