7.4V 5200mAh Li-ion cell delivers consistent voltage to the thermal print head and paper feed motor during field operations.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a flat keyed design; locking tab secures the pack until you press the release lever.
We ran full discharge cycles on the QLN220 platform; the BMS held steady voltage under print-head thermal draw and showed no early cutoff.
After installation, charge fully and print five test receipts before deploying — the paper feed motor requires a calibration sequence to confirm BMS current profile matches the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra QLN220 / QLN320 / ZQ510 / ZQ520 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P1031365-025)

This 7.4V 5200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power pack in the Zebra QLN220, QLN320, ZQ510, and ZQ520 portable thermal printers. It also covers nine additional compatible Zebra mobile printer models. The cell matches the original voltage rail and connector, so no modification is required at installation.

  • QLN and ZQ series platform fit: The QLN220, QLN320, ZQ510, and ZQ520 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers all four models plus the extended compatibility list. Swapping between these models does not require any firmware change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a QLN320 and cycled the BMS through charge, idle, and continuous print loads. The BMS held stable current delivery across the thermal head and paper feed motor without triggering low-voltage cutoff at normal operating draw.
  • First-deploy print sequence: After installing, charge to 100% and run five consecutive print jobs before field deployment. The thermal printer's BMS calibrates its current profile against real motor and head load during those first cycles — skipping this step can cause the printer to misread state-of-charge and cut off prematurely mid-shift.

Why the QLN220 drops Bluetooth mid-job at low charge

The QLN220's Bluetooth radio and thermal head both draw from the same voltage rail. When the battery drops below roughly 6.8V under load, the printer prioritises the print motor and thermal head, which causes the radio module to lose enough voltage to drop its connection. This looks like a wireless fault but the root cause is voltage sag from an aged or partially charged cell. Keeping the battery above 30% charge before starting a large job eliminates most mid-job disconnections.

Faded or uneven print output after fitting a new battery

The thermal head in ZQ510 and QLN series printers adjusts its burn temperature based on a stable voltage input — typically 7.2–7.4V at the head. If the new battery has not completed its first full charge cycle, its resting voltage may sit lower, causing the head to underheat and produce faint or patchy output. This is not a head fault. Charge the battery fully, then print a test label from the Zebra Setup Utilities; output should normalise to a consistent dark print immediately after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My QLN220 won't start printing after sitting unused for two months — is the battery the problem?

Yes, almost certainly. Li-ion cells in mobile printers self-discharge during storage, and the QLN220's BMS will not release power to the print motor if the cell voltage has dropped below its minimum threshold — typically around 6.0V. Plug the printer into the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before pressing print; the BMS needs to re-initialise from a recovered charge state before it will allow motor drive current. If the printer shows a charging LED but still won't print after a full charge, confirm the battery is reading above 7.0V with a multimeter at the battery contacts.

The paper feed is jamming on my ZQ510 even though there's no paper obstruction — what's causing it?

The paper feed motor in the ZQ510 relies on consistent torque, which drops when battery voltage sags below around 6.8V under load. At reduced voltage the motor can't maintain enough pressure on the platen roller, so the paper slips or stalls mid-feed — it looks mechanical but it's electrical. Charge the battery to 100% and attempt the feed again; if it clears immediately, voltage sag was the cause. If the jam repeats at full charge, inspect the roller for wear.

My QLN320 print output was sharp yesterday but came out streaky and faint today — nothing else changed.

Streaky or faint output on the QLN320 with no settings change points to thermal head voltage dropping below the burn threshold. The head needs a stable 7.2–7.4V to maintain consistent heat across its element — a partially discharged or aging cell can't hold that under the combined load of the head and feed motor. Charge fully and run a test print from Zebra Setup Utilities; if output sharpens immediately, the battery is the cause. A cell that can no longer hold voltage above 7.0V under print load needs replacement.
