Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alpina BLA 24 Li / C 24 Li Series — 24V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT 4024)
This is a 24V 4000mAh (96Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Alpina BLA 24 Li cordless lawn mower and other tools in the Alpina 24V system. It fits the BLA 24 Li, C 24 Li, H 24 Li, and MT 24 Li platforms. OEM part number BT 4024 (also referenced as 270401020) confirms the correct connector and BMS communication profile for these tools.
- Alpina 24V platform fit: The BLA 24 Li, C 24 Li, H 24 Li, and MT 24 Li share a common 24V battery architecture with the same slide-in connector and BMS handshake protocol — one pack serves all four tools without adapters or firmware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated motor-start inrush cycles on a 24V Alpina platform. The BMS handled the trigger-pull current spike without tripping overcurrent protection and held voltage stable through sustained mid-load cutting passes.
- Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the mower at half throttle for two full cycles before tackling thick or dense grass. This gives the BMS time to profile the motor's inrush draw and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you push maximum load.
BMS overcurrent trip on mower blade engagement
When a lawn mower blade engages, the motor pulls a current spike two to three times its running draw for a fraction of a second. A new pack with no usage history has no baseline for this inrush, so the BMS can trip its overcurrent protection and cut power before the blade reaches speed. This is not a faulty cell — it is the protection circuit doing its job with no learned profile. Running two lighter-load cycles first lets the BMS log that inrush event as expected behaviour and adjust its threshold accordingly.
Charger not recognising the pack after extended storage
Li-ion packs stored discharged for several months can drop below 2.5V per cell — the minimum voltage most chargers will accept before beginning a charge cycle. The charger sees a pack below its acceptance window and either blinks red or shows no response at all. To recover the pack, connect it to the charger and leave it for 10–15 minutes without interrupting — some chargers include a trickle pre-charge mode that will slowly bring cells up to 3.0V before switching to normal charge current. If the charger shows no progress after 20 minutes, check that the terminal voltage at the pack connector reads at least 18V before re-attempting.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alpina BLA 24 Li cuts out the moment I engage the blade — is the battery tripping?
Yes — this is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the blade motor's inrush current spike at engagement. The protection circuit cuts power before it logs that spike as a normal event. Run the mower at reduced load for two full cycles to let the BMS profile the inrush draw. After that, full-load engagement should not trigger a cutoff.
The battery gets warm quickly and the mower slows down on thick grass — what's causing that?
Sustained high-load cutting generates heat in both the motor and the cells simultaneously. In a compact battery housing, that combined heat raises cell temperature until the BMS throttles output current to protect the cells — you feel this as the mower bogging down. Stop cutting and let the pack rest for five to eight minutes to shed heat, then resume. Keep the mower deck clear of clippings so airflow around the battery housing is not restricted.
The pack sat unused all winter and now the charger just blinks without starting a charge — what do I do?
A pack stored discharged over winter can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage, typically around 18V on a 24V system. Most Alpina chargers have a trickle pre-charge mode — leave the pack connected without unplugging for 15–20 minutes and the charger should step up to a full charge cycle on its own. If there is still no progress, measure the voltage at the pack terminals with a multimeter — if it reads below 15V, the cells have likely self-discharged past safe recovery depth.
