Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CMI C-AS 14.4 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (C-ABS 14.4 LI)
This 14.4V Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on the CMI C-AS 14.4 cordless power tool platform. It carries a 2000mAh (28.8Wh) capacity and uses the same connector and BMS communication protocol as the factory unit. Fits drills, impact drivers, and other compact tools running on the C-AS 14.4 system.
- C-AS 14.4 platform fit: These tools share a common 14.4V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake voltage. The pack slots directly into any C-AS 14.4 body without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush loads on a C-AS 14.4 drill. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold cleanly and did not trip on a cold start.
- First-use load conditioning: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS profile actual motor inrush current and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before heavy-duty operation.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in the C-AS 14.4
When you pull the trigger on a stalled or heavily loaded drill, current spikes sharply in the first milliseconds of motor start. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor, it may read that spike as a fault and cut the pack. This is especially common with a fresh or recently stored battery where the BMS protection thresholds reset to defaults. Running two partial-load cycles re-establishes the inrush profile and prevents nuisance cutoffs under full torque. After conditioning, cold-start trips on the C-AS 14.4 drop significantly.
Charger not recognising the pack after storage
Li-ion cells that have sat discharged for several weeks can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage window — typically under 2.5V per cell on a 14.4V pack. The charger sees an out-of-range signal and refuses to enter bulk charge mode, often showing a blinking or solid red light. To recover, place the pack on the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without removing it — many chargers run a trickle pre-charge cycle that brings cells back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charge. If the charger still does not respond after 30 minutes, check rail contact voltage at the pack terminals; it should read above 10V before the charger will accept it.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CMI C-AS 14.4 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — why?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a weak battery. The motor-start inrush current spike on a loaded drill can briefly exceed the BMS protection threshold, especially on a new or freshly charged pack where the BMS is using default cutoff values. Run the drill at light load for two full cycles first — this lets the BMS log real inrush data and adjust its threshold before you hit full torque. After conditioning, the cutout on trigger pull should stop.
The drill runs fine unladen but bogs badly the moment I hit hardwood or drive a long bolt — what's happening?
That's voltage sag under sustained high-current draw, and it usually points to increased resistance at the battery rail contacts rather than a failing cell. Clean the slide-rail terminals on both the pack and the tool body with a dry cloth or fine abrasive — oxide buildup on the contacts adds resistance and causes the voltage rail to drop under load. If sag continues after cleaning the contacts, check that the pack clicks fully seated; a partial engagement raises contact resistance further. A fully seated, clean-contact pack on the C-AS 14.4 should hold above 13V under normal drilling load.
My CMI C-AS 14.4 battery loses charge noticeably faster in cold weather on site — is something wrong with the pack?
Nothing is wrong — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces usable capacity and causes the BMS to cut off sooner to protect the cells. Keep the pack in a jacket pocket or insulated bag between uses rather than leaving it on the tool or ground in cold air. Warm cells (above 10°C) will deliver full rated capacity; a pack warmed to room temperature before use on a cold morning will outperform one that started at 2°C. There is no fix needed — manage temperature and the capacity returns.
