Fits Fromm P318, P326, P327, P328 power tools; replaces Fromm 18V Li-ion battery packs.
18V nominal, 2000mAh capacity delivers 36Wh per charge cycle for compact drill and driver work.
Slide connector locks into Fromm battery slot with positive and negative contact pins aligned vertically.
We tested the BMS on trigger-pull inrush with P318 drill motor; pack held steady without early cutoff.
On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications — allows the BMS to profile the motor inrush current draw before setting overcurrent protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fromm P318 / P326 / P327 / P328 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on Fromm P318, P326, P327, and P328 cordless power tools. Capacity is 2000mAh (36Wh). It fits the same terminal footprint and communicates with the tool's onboard BMS without modification.

  • P318 / P326 / P327 / P328 platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery rail, connector pin-out, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery format covers all four tools — no adapter needed and no firmware mismatch on the communication line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under simulated motor-start inrush loads on the P318 platform. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold correctly across cold and warm starts, and cell voltage recovered cleanly after each discharge cycle.
  • Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and calibrate overcurrent thresholds before maximum-draw applications.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in the P318

When the trigger is pulled on a stalled or cold motor, inrush current can spike two to four times the rated running current in under 50 milliseconds. If the BMS interprets this spike as a fault, it trips the protection circuit and the tool stops immediately. This is more likely on new packs straight from storage because the cells haven't been profiled to the motor's draw pattern yet. Two break-in cycles at reduced load — drilling softwood rather than hardwood, for example — give the BMS enough data to set a stable overcurrent threshold.

Charger shows blinking red and won't accept the new pack

After extended storage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance floor — typically around 2.5V per cell on 18V Li-ion packs. The charger reads this as a fault condition and refuses to enter the main charge cycle. Remove the pack, wait 60 seconds, then re-seat it firmly — this resets the charger's handshake attempt. If the light stays red, the pack needs a pre-charge pulse; some Fromm chargers support this automatically if the pack sits connected for 10–15 minutes at low current before the full charge sequence begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

My P318 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — battery or tool fault?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a tool fault. The motor-start inrush spike on a stalled or cold P318 can exceed the BMS's preset cutoff threshold, especially on a new or storage-fresh pack. Run two light-load cycles first — soft material, short bursts — so the BMS can profile the motor's inrush signature before you hit maximum torque. After break-in, most trigger-pull cutouts stop entirely.

The tool bogs down and loses power halfway through a cut — what's causing that?

Voltage sag under sustained load. When the cells heat up inside the enclosed battery housing, internal resistance rises and the pack can't maintain 18V at the terminal rail under heavy draw. Check that the battery contact pins are clean and seating fully — even 20–30 milliohms of contact resistance amplifies sag noticeably. If contacts are clean and the problem persists, let the pack cool for 10 minutes between heavy cuts to keep cell temperature below the thermal rollback threshold.

Does cold weather affect how long this battery lasts between charges?

Yes — Li-ion internal resistance increases significantly below 5°C, which reduces the usable energy the pack can deliver before voltage drops to the BMS cutoff point. Store the battery indoors before use rather than leaving it in a cold vehicle or job site box overnight. Warming the pack to room temperature before use recovers most of the lost capacity; you don't need to do anything special, just bring it inside for 30 minutes before starting work.
