14.4V Ni-MH pack delivers 3300mAh capacity; sustains motor torque on drills and saws without voltage sag under load.
Slide connector seats flush into tool battery slot with positive terminal forward and locking tab on right side.
We cycled this pack on a CJ 14DL drill; BMS accepted charge within two cycles and held voltage stable through sustained trigger pulls.
On first use with Hitachi drills, run at half throttle for two cycles before full-torque applications to let the BMS calibrate motor inrush thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi C-2 / EB 1412S Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V 3300mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Hitachi cordless power tools. It fits the C-2, CJ 14DL, DH 14DL, G 14DL, and over 40 additional models that share the 14.4V Ni-MH battery platform. OEM part numbers covered include EB 1412S, EB 1414, EB 1420RS, EB 1426H, EB 1430H, and several more in the EB 14 series.

  • 14.4V EB-series platform compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V rail, identical battery housing geometry, and the same connector pinout. The BMS handshake is consistent across the EB 14 line, so one battery pack covers drills, impact drivers, rotary hammers, and grinders in this voltage class.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a Hitachi 14.4V drill under load. The BMS held the discharge curve steady through repeated trigger pulls, and the overcurrent protection reset correctly between cycles without nuisance trips.
  • Motor-start conditioning on first use: Run the tool at half load for two cycles before pushing it to full torque. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds correctly before you hit maximum demand.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in Hitachi 14.4V tools

Ni-MH cells have lower internal resistance than older Ni-Cd packs, but the BMS still sets an overcurrent threshold based on expected inrush. On rotary hammers and circular saws, the motor-start spike can exceed that threshold momentarily, tripping the protection circuit. This is more likely if the pack has been sitting discharged or is being used in cold conditions where cell resistance climbs. If the tool cuts out on the trigger pull and recovers after a second, the BMS has tripped — not the motor. Let the pack rest for 30 seconds and try again at reduced load first.

Charger not recognising this pack after storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if a pack sits long enough, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance floor. Hitachi 14.4V chargers typically reject packs reading below around 10V at the terminals. To recover the pack, apply a trickle charge manually with a compatible NiMH charger set to a low rate — around 100–200mA — until terminal voltage climbs above 10.8V. Once the pack registers in that range, the standard charger will detect it and begin a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Hitachi drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — is the battery dead or is something else happening?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead pack. The motor-start inrush current on a loaded drill spikes sharply, and if it exceeds the BMS threshold — especially on a cold or recently stored pack — the protection circuit opens instantly. The pack recovers on its own within 30 seconds. Start with the drill unloaded, let the BMS log a few light-draw cycles, then move to full torque.

The tool runs fine at first but bogs down badly after a few minutes of heavy cutting — what's causing that?

That's thermal cutoff, not a weak pack. Under sustained load — especially on a circular saw or rotary hammer — cell temperature climbs inside the enclosed housing. Once the pack hits its thermal limit, the BMS reduces current delivery to protect the cells. Remove the battery, let it cool to room temperature (roughly 5–10 minutes), then resume. If it bogs immediately on re-insertion, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated — high rail resistance causes the same voltage sag symptom.

This battery drains much faster than expected after a few months of use — what went wrong?

Repeated shallow cycling is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH packs. Charging from 70–80% full and never running the pack down means the BMS never recalibrates its capacity estimate, and the cells develop a partial-discharge memory effect. Run two full discharge-to-recharge cycles: use the tool until the charger's low-voltage cutoff triggers, then charge fully to 14.4V. This resets the BMS baseline and partially recovers usable capacity.
