Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LUX-TOOLS AGS 7.2 LI / A-GS 7.2 Li — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 7.2V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on the LUX-TOOLS AGS 7.2 LI and A-GS 7.2 Li cordless angle grinders. It fits the compact battery housing on both model designations and runs the same 7.2V cell stack the tool's BMS expects. Dimensions match the OEM pack at 86.55 × 65.10 × 42.30mm.
- AGS 7.2 LI and A-GS 7.2 Li compatibility: Both model names refer to the same compact angle grinder platform. They share identical battery bay geometry, the same 7.2V voltage rail, and the same BMS communication handshake — one battery covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through motor-start inrush cycles on the grinder platform. The BMS held through repeated cold trigger pulls without tripping and recovered cell voltage cleanly between bursts.
- Break-in load for angle grinder cells: On first use, run the grinder at light cutting load for two full discharge-charge cycles before pushing into sustained metal grinding. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before heavy use.
BMS cutoff on trigger pull during grinding inrush
Angle grinders draw a sharp current spike the moment the disc spins up from rest. On a 7.2V pack, that inrush can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold, cutting the tool dead mid-start. This is more pronounced when the disc is already under contact with a workpiece at the moment of trigger pull. To clear the trip, release the trigger fully, wait three seconds, and restart the grinder off the material before bringing it to the cut.
Grinder bogs and loses torque mid-cut
If the tool starts normally but loses power and slows under load, the cause is usually voltage sag — the cell rail drops under sustained current draw, and the BMS throttles output before the low-voltage cutoff triggers. On a 7.2V pack, check that the battery contacts and terminal pins in the bay are clean and seated firmly; even 0.1Ω of contact resistance compounds sag noticeably at this voltage. If contacts are clean and sag persists, the cells are likely below serviceable capacity — rest the pack for ten minutes and retest with a voltmeter. A healthy pack at rest should read at or above 8.0V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LUX-TOOLS angle grinder cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily faulty — this is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush current. The spike at the moment the disc spins up can exceed the pack's overcurrent threshold, especially if the disc is already touching the workpiece. Release the trigger, wait three seconds, then restart the grinder free of the material. If it only trips on-load starts, the BMS is working correctly; if it trips on every free-spin start, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.
The charger light just blinks and never starts charging — the battery came straight out of the box.
A new pack that has sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor, and the charger refuses to begin a charge cycle. Remove the battery, wait two minutes, then reinsert it firmly. If the charger still blinks, check the pack voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below 6.0V, the cells need a brief recovery pulse. Some chargers have a recovery or conditioning mode; switch to that setting and allow up to 30 minutes before the charge cycle begins normally.
The grinder works fine in summer but feels noticeably weaker when I use it in a cold workshop — what's happening?
Cold temperatures raise the internal resistance of Li-ion cells significantly below 5°C, which causes voltage to sag harder under load at the same current draw. The tool's motor receives less usable voltage, so it produces less torque and slows under cut pressure. Store the battery indoors at room temperature before heading into a cold workspace, and let it warm to at least 10°C before use. A battery that reads a healthy voltage at room temperature but sags badly in the cold is behaving normally — warm it up rather than replacing it.
