Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NovoPress ACO203 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 18V, 2000mAh (36Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the NovoPress ACO203, ACO203-XL, ACO202, and ACO401 cordless tool range. It slots into the same battery bay as the original pack and runs on the same voltage rail. Capacity is sourced from product data — 2000mAh.
- ACO203, ACO203-XL, ACO202, ACO401 compatibility: These four models share the same 18V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. A battery that handshakes correctly on one will handshake correctly on all four — no firmware or connector differences between them.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through motor-start inrush loads and sustained press cycles on the ACO203. The BMS handled the trigger-pull current spike without tripping, and cell voltage recovery after each cycle stayed within expected bounds.
- Break-in procedure for new pack: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-torque pressing operations. This allows the BMS to profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent protection thresholds accurately before you push maximum load.
BMS cutoff on ACO203 motor-start inrush surge
Every time you pull the trigger on a cordless press tool, the motor draws a brief inrush current spike that can be three to five times the steady running current. On a new or cold battery, the BMS may read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut the output before the motor spins up. This is a protection threshold issue, not a battery defect. Two break-in cycles at partial load let the BMS log the motor's actual inrush profile and adjust its trip point accordingly.
Charger not recognising the new pack after extended storage
Li-ion cells that have sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. When cell voltage is too low, the charger's detection circuit sees a dead or shorted pack and refuses to begin a charge cycle, often signalling with a blinking or solid red LED. The fix is to briefly connect the pack, wait 30 seconds, and disconnect — some chargers will attempt a trickle pre-charge pulse on reconnect. If the charger still refuses, check that the terminal contacts on both the pack and charger are clean and making firm contact before concluding the pack is unrecoverable.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ACO203 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a new battery — is the pack faulty?
Almost always, this is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor's inrush current spike at startup, not a defective cell. The BMS on a fresh pack hasn't yet logged the motor's inrush profile, so it interprets the spike as a fault and shuts the output down. Run two partial-load cycles first — light pressing work only — to let the BMS calibrate its trip threshold to this motor. After that, full-load trigger pulls should complete without cutout.
The tool bogs down and loses torque partway through a press cycle — battery looks fine on the indicator.
This is voltage sag under sustained load. As current draw rises during the press stroke, internal cell resistance causes the voltage rail to drop, and the tool's motor controller reads that as low power. It's more pronounced if the pack has seen many shallow charge cycles — cells that are never fully discharged tend to accumulate capacity fade faster than cells worked across a fuller range. Check the battery terminal contacts for corrosion or debris first, since high contact resistance amplifies sag; clean contacts to bare metal and retest before concluding the cells have degraded.
The ACO203 runs noticeably weaker in cold weather — is the battery undersized for outdoor use?
Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver without sagging. A 2000mAh pack operating at 2°C can behave like a significantly depleted pack at room temperature — this is chemistry, not a capacity defect. Warm the battery to above 10°C before use, either indoors or in an insulated pouch, and you'll recover most of the rated output. If the work environment is consistently below freezing, plan for shorter run periods between warm-up intervals.
