Fits Porter Cable PCC600, PCC601, and PCC620B tools; replaces PCC680L, PCC681L, PCC682L, PCC685L, and PCC685LP batteries.
20V nominal voltage delivers consistent power to drills, impact drivers, and saws; 1500mAh capacity matches OEM output for full tool performance.
Slide connector seats flush with a quarter-turn locking tab; orientation is keyed, so forced insertion is impossible on this platform.
We ran load tests on a PCC601 drill at 50% trigger — BMS accepted the pack after first charge cycle without fault codes or early cutoff.
On first use with this pack, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-throttle drilling or driving; this lets the BMS profile the motor inrush spike before locking overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Porter Cable PCC600 Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PCC680L)

This is a 20V Li-ion battery rated at 1500mAh (30Wh), built to fit the Porter Cable 20V MAX cordless tool platform. It slots into drills, impact drivers, circular saws, and other handheld tools across the PCC600 series. Drop it in — the connector and BMS handshake match the original pack spec.

  • PCC600 platform fit: The PCC600, PCC601, PCC601LA, PCC620B, and 38+ additional models share the same 20V rail, slide-in connector block, and BMS communication protocol — one battery body covers the full line without adapter plates or firmware changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a PCC601 drill and a PCC620B circular saw. The BMS handled motor-start inrush on both tools without tripping overcurrent protection, and the charger handshake completed normally on the Porter Cable stock charger.
  • Break-in on first use: Run your tool at half load — light drilling or low-torque driving — for two full charge cycles before hitting maximum torque or sustained saw cuts. This lets the BMS sample the motor's inrush current profile and calibrate its overcurrent thresholds before you push the pack hard.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with the PCC620B circular saw

A circular saw draws three to five times its running current in the first 50–100 milliseconds of blade spin-up. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor, it can read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut the pack before the blade reaches full speed. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS protecting cells from an unrecognised load signature. Two break-in cycles at partial load allow the BMS to set a realistic threshold and stop tripping on normal start-up.

Charger blinking red on a new or stored 20V pack

Li-ion packs in storage self-discharge over time. If any cell drops below roughly 2.5V, most Porter Cable chargers enter a protection loop and flash red rather than begin a full charge. The fix is a slow pre-charge: if your charger supports a recovery mode, hold the pack in it for 10–15 minutes so the charger can raise the cell floor above the acceptance threshold. If it does not, a compatible charger with a recovery function will bring cells back up to the 3.0V floor needed to trigger a standard charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PCC601 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The motor-start inrush current on the PCC601 spikes sharply in the first fraction of a second, and a new or storage-rested BMS may not have a calibrated threshold for that load yet. Run the drill lightly — no-load or low-resistance screwing — for two full charge cycles to let the BMS profile the inrush draw. After that, trigger-pull cutouts on normal starts should stop.

The drill runs but bogs badly under any real load — charged pack, good charger, why?

Voltage sag under load usually points to high contact resistance at the battery rail, not a dead cell. Wipe the slide contacts on both the battery and the tool with a dry cloth, then check for bent or corroded terminals on the PCC600 connector block. A clean, firm connection keeps the voltage rail stable during torque demand. If sag continues after cleaning contacts, check cell voltage at rest — it should sit above 19V on a full charge.

The battery drains noticeably faster after a few months of light use — what's happening?

Shallow cycling degrades Li-ion capacity faster than full cycles do. If you consistently top the pack off after short jobs without letting it discharge past 50%, the BMS loses accurate state-of-charge calibration and the cells develop a partial charge memory effect. Run the pack down to the tool's low-voltage cutoff point — where the tool slows noticeably — then charge it fully. Do this once every 10–15 charge cycles to recalibrate the BMS and recover usable capacity.
