Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Skil 3610 / 3612 / 3615 Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Skil compact drill/drivers including the 3610, 3610-K10, 3612, and 3615. It slots into the same battery bay and uses the same contact layout as the original pack. Capacity is 3000mAh (43.2Wh), matching the factory specification.
- 3610 series compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V battery bay, contact pitch, and latch geometry. The BMS on each tool expects the same voltage floor and charge termination signal, so one pack serves the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 3612 drill. The BMS handled motor-start inrush correctly and charge termination triggered at the expected delta-V negative peak — no runaway, no premature cutoff.
- Break-in load management: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This lets the BMS log the motor inrush current draw and set its overcurrent threshold accurately before you hit it with full drilling loads.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush during trigger pull
Ni-MH packs can trip the overcurrent protection on the first hard trigger pull, especially after storage. The BMS sees the motor-start spike — sometimes 3–4× the running current — and cuts the cell string before the motor reaches speed. This usually resets when you release the trigger and pull again. If it happens repeatedly, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full surface contact; high contact resistance amplifies the apparent current spike the BMS measures.
Tool bogs under load even with a freshly charged pack
Voltage sag under load is the usual cause here, not low capacity. When rail contact resistance rises — from oxidised terminals or worn spring contacts — the voltage at the tool drops sharply the moment current demand increases. The tool reads this as a weak pack and limits output. Clean both battery and tool contacts with isopropyl alcohol, then check that the pack rests fully seated and latched. A fully charged 14.4V Ni-MH pack should hold above 13.5V under moderate drilling load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Skil 3612 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on hard material — is the battery tripping?
Yes — that's a BMS overcurrent trip on motor-start inrush. The spike when the motor starts from a dead stop can exceed the pack's overcurrent threshold, especially if the contacts have any resistance adding to the apparent load. Clean the battery and tool terminals with isopropyl alcohol, seat the pack firmly, and try a slower initial trigger pull. If the cutout stops happening after two or three cycles, the BMS has profiled the inrush and reset its threshold.
The charger light just blinks red and never starts charging a new pack that's been sitting in storage — what's wrong?
Ni-MH packs that sit discharged for months can drop below the voltage floor the charger uses to confirm a valid battery is connected. Most Skil chargers won't begin a charge cycle if the pack reads below roughly 10V. Jump-start recovery: some chargers have a conditioning or recovery mode — check your charger model for a recondition button or switch. If yours doesn't, a compatible charger with a recovery function can bring the pack back up to acceptance voltage before a normal charge cycle completes.
After a long drilling session the tool suddenly stops and won't restart for a few minutes — is that the battery or the tool?
That's thermal cutoff — either the cells or the tool's thermal fuse tripping from combined heat buildup in the enclosed housing. Ni-MH cells generate more heat than Li-ion under sustained heavy load, and the battery bay on the 3610 series has limited airflow. Let the pack cool for five minutes separated from the tool, then retry. If it restarts cleanly and runs normally, the cells are fine — reduce sustained run time on high-resistance materials and let the pack rest between long sessions.
