Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stiga SAB 24 AE / SC 24 AE / SGT 24 AE / SHT 24 AE — 24V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 24V 2000mAh (48Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Stiga SAB 24 AE cordless lawn mower and its platform siblings. It slots into the same battery bay and runs on the same 24V rail. Fits the SAB 24 AE, SC 24 AE, SGT 24 AE, and SHT 24 AE.
- Shared 24V platform compatibility: The SAB 24 AE, SC 24 AE, SGT 24 AE, and SHT 24 AE all draw from the same 24V battery system. The connector format, cell voltage rails, and BMS communication protocol are consistent across the range, so one battery services all four tools.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on a 24V Stiga platform. The BMS held overcurrent cutoff within spec on motor-start inrush and recovered cleanly after full discharge without requiring a manual reset.
- Break-in load procedure: On first use, run the mower at a light cutting load for two cycles before tackling dense or wet grass. This gives the BMS time to profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push the deck into heavy material.
BMS cutoff on the SAB 24 AE during motor-start inrush
When you engage the cutting deck, the motor pulls a short inrush spike that can be three to five times the steady-state current draw. On a new pack — or one returning from storage — the BMS has not yet profiled that spike against the motor's characteristics. If the spike exceeds the BMS threshold, the pack trips and the deck stops immediately after trigger engagement. Running two break-in cycles at light load lets the BMS log the inrush curve and adjust protection thresholds before you hit full load.
Charger not recognising the pack after storage
Li-ion cells left unused for several months can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor — typically around 2.5V per cell. When this happens, the charger sees a pack that looks over-discharged or faulty and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Some Stiga chargers will show a blinking or solid fault LED instead of beginning the charge sequence. To recover the pack, connect it to the charger and leave it for 30 minutes without interruption — many chargers run a low-current trickle pre-charge at around 0.1A to bring cells back above the 2.5V threshold before switching to the main charge rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SAB 24 AE cutting deck stops the moment I engage it — then restarts fine after a pause. What's happening?
That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip on motor-start inrush. The spike when the deck motor engages is briefly exceeding the pack's overcurrent threshold, and the BMS cuts power to protect the cells. It resets after a short rest because the fault is transient, not a dead cell. Run two light-load cycles first — short passes on thin grass — so the BMS can profile the inrush curve and adjust its cutoff threshold before you load the deck fully.
The mower bogs down and loses power halfway through a cutting run even though the battery showed full charge at the start.
That's voltage sag under sustained load, not a capacity problem. As the motor heats up and demands more current, internal cell resistance causes the pack voltage to sag — the BMS may then throttle output or trip to protect the cells. Check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the tool are clean and making firm contact, as high contact resistance makes sag worse. Let the pack cool for 10 minutes, then check the resting voltage — it should read above 22V at rest if the cells are healthy.
The battery works fine in warm weather but the mower feels noticeably weaker on cold mornings. Is the pack failing?
It's not failure — it's normal Li-ion behaviour below 5°C. Cold temperatures raise internal cell resistance, which increases voltage sag under the motor's current draw and reduces usable output. The pack will perform closer to its rated output once the cells warm up through use, usually after the first few minutes of cutting. Store the pack indoors overnight rather than in a cold shed or garage to keep the starting cell temperature above 10°C before use.
