Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Andis Cordless Envy Li Hair Clipper — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FBL-16)
This 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM FBL-16 cell in the Andis Cordless Envy Li Hair Clipper. It fits the Cordless Envy, model 8224, and the Cordless Envy Li Switch Sled. When the original cell degrades and cutting power drops mid-session, this is a direct swap to restore full motor output.
- Envy Li platform fit: The Cordless Envy Li series shares a single 3.7V cell format across the standard Envy, 8224, and Switch Sled variants. Same housing dimensions (66.50 × 20.50 × 20.00mm), same connector, same BMS handshake — one replacement covers the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Envy Li's charge circuit and confirmed BMS cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold. The protection board responded normally to both charge termination and discharge cutoff without error flags.
- Charging port drying before reconnect: The Envy Li is used in wet salon environments. Dry the charging port completely before docking — moisture bridging the charging contacts triggers a BMS protection fault the clipper reports as a dead battery, not a charging error.
Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the Envy Li
Many stylists top up the Envy Li after every client session rather than letting the cell cycle fully. Li-ion cells charged repeatedly from 60–80% develop shallow-cycle degradation — the cell's usable range narrows and the indicator starts drifting from actual charge state. Over 200–300 partial cycles, the cell reads full but delivers noticeably less cutting time per session. Replacing the cell resets this. After fitting a new cell, run two or three full discharge-recharge cycles to let the indicator recalibrate.
Motor speed dropping before the indicator reaches empty
The Envy Li's motor draws a sharp current spike on startup and during cuts through thick hair. An aged cell can't hold voltage under that load even when the indicator still shows charge remaining — voltage sags below what the motor needs, and cutting power drops or the clipper stutters. This is a cell-impedance problem, not a motor fault. A fresh 2600mAh cell with low internal resistance maintains the voltage rail through those spikes. If the clipper restores full blade speed immediately after swap, the original cell was the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Andis Envy Li runs at full speed for a few seconds then slows down mid-cut — is the battery failing?
Yes, and the cause is voltage sag under motor load. An aged li-ion cell can't sustain the current the motor draws through dense hair — voltage drops below the motor's operating threshold even with charge still showing on the indicator. This is internal resistance rising as the cell degrades, not a motor or blade fault. Fit a replacement cell and test immediately: if full blade speed returns and holds, the original cell was the problem.
The Envy Li sits in the dock but won't charge — the indicator doesn't move at all. Could the dock contacts be the issue?
Often, yes. Cleaning product residue and water exposure in salon environments oxidise the dock's charging contacts, breaking the circuit before current reaches the battery. Remove the clipper, wipe both the dock contacts and the clipper's charge terminals with a dry cloth, then reseat and check for the charging indicator. If the indicator still doesn't respond after cleaning, test with a USB charge cable if supported — a dead indicator after contact cleaning points to the battery's BMS needing a reset, which a short charge via direct connection can trigger.
The Envy Li feels noticeably warm after a long grooming session — is that a battery problem or a motor problem?
Both contribute, but the battery is the first thing to check. A degraded li-ion cell generates more heat during discharge because its internal resistance is higher — the same current produces more resistive heating inside the cell. In the Envy Li's compact housing, that heat has nowhere to go and the motor's own warmth adds to it. If the clipper runs hotter than it used to under the same workload, measure the cell voltage immediately after a session: a healthy 3.7V cell should read no lower than 3.2V at rest after moderate use.
