Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ronson RR-3 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Ronson RR-3 electric shaver. It replaces the original cell when the shaver no longer holds charge or powers down early. Dimensions are 49.00 × 29.00 × 14.50mm — match these before ordering.
- RR-3 platform fit: The RR-3 runs a single Ni-MH cell at 2.4V. That voltage rail drives the motor controller directly — swap to a different chemistry or voltage and the motor driver circuit will either cut out immediately or overcharge the cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under a motor-equivalent load. The BMS held the low-voltage cutoff at the correct threshold and did not trigger a false protection trip during the inrush current at motor start.
- Charging port care after rinsing: If the RR-3 is rinsed under water, let the charging port air-dry for at least 30 minutes before docking. Moisture across the two charging contacts creates a short-circuit signal that trips the BMS — the device then reports as a dead battery rather than a charging fault.
Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the RR-3
Ni-MH cells in shavers are particularly prone to capacity fade when charged daily before they are meaningfully depleted. The RR-3 has no active cell-balancing circuit, so shallow cycles accumulate and the cell's usable capacity drifts downward over months. The shaver's charge indicator reads full because it tracks charge time, not actual cell voltage. Once capacity has dropped this way, replacing the cell is the only fix — conditioning cycles cannot recover a Ni-MH cell that has degraded past roughly 60% of rated capacity.
Motor speed dropping before the low-battery indicator lights
The RR-3's indicator circuit monitors charge time elapsed, not live cell voltage under load. Under the current draw of the shaver motor, an aged or faulty cell's voltage sags below the motor driver's operating floor before the indicator registers low. The result is audible motor slowdown — or full stop — while the display still shows charge remaining. Measuring the cell voltage under load with a multimeter should read above 2.0V; anything below that confirms the cell is the cause, not the motor or driver board.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my RR-3 shaver slow down mid-shave even though the indicator still shows charge?
The RR-3's charge indicator tracks elapsed charge time, not real-time cell voltage. Under motor load, an ageing Ni-MH cell voltage-sags below the motor driver's minimum operating threshold before the indicator catches up. The shaver slows or stalls while the display still shows partial charge remaining. Test the cell under load — a healthy cell holds above 2.0V; below that, replace the battery.
My RR-3 won't charge after I rinsed it. Is the charger faulty?
Most likely not the charger. Moisture bridging the two charging contacts shorts them momentarily, which the BMS reads as a fault condition — it locks out charging and the device appears completely dead. Leave the shaver dock-free with the charging port facing down for at least 30 minutes to let residual water clear. Once dry, reconnect to the charger; if charging resumes, the BMS has reset and the cell is fine.
The RR-3 dock contacts look dark and don't seem to be charging the shaver — is this a battery problem?
Dark or tarnished dock contacts are usually oxidation from cleaning product residue, not a battery fault. The oxide layer increases contact resistance enough that the charge current drops below what the BMS needs to register a valid charge connection. Clean the contacts on both the dock and the shaver base with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, let them dry fully, then re-dock. If the charging indicator activates normally after that, the cell and BMS are unaffected.
