Fits Wella Bella WM1590-7290 shavers including Bella, Super, Chromini, and Contura HS40 models.
1.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell delivers full motor torque on each charge cycle without voltage sag dropout.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab — inspect the tab for cracks before insertion.
Bench testing showed stable voltage delivery under motor load with no early BMS cutoff across five full discharge cycles.
On first install, charge the shaver for a full cycle without use — Ni-MH cells need one complete charge-discharge to establish proper voltage regulation in the device firmware.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wella Bella, Super, Chromini & Contura HS40 — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (WM1590-7290)

This is a 1.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable cell for the Wella Bella, Super, Chromini, and Contura HS40 cordless shavers. It replaces the original internal battery when charge capacity has degraded. Voltage and cell format match the OEM specification directly.

  • Shared platform — Bella, Super, Chromini, Contura HS40: These models run from the same 1.2V single-cell Ni-MH architecture with identical connector pitch and BMS handshake thresholds, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Bella platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and termination voltage held at the expected 1.0V cutoff under shaver motor load.
  • Charging port care after wet shaving: After rinsing the shaver head, dry the charging port completely before seating it in the dock — moisture bridging the two dock contacts causes the BMS to trip a protection fault that the device reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the Wella Bella

Ni-MH cells used in small shavers are vulnerable to voltage depression when they are recharged every day without being fully discharged first. The cell's charge indicator drifts, so the shaver appears to have a full battery but cuts out earlier each week. This is not a dock fault — it is a cell-level issue. Running the shaver to full cutoff before recharging resets the usable capacity range and re-aligns the indicator.

Shaver motor speed dropping before the low-battery indicator lights

Under shaver motor load, the 1.2V Ni-MH cell's terminal voltage sags before the BMS reaches its cutoff threshold. The motor slows noticeably — pulling resistance increases, the shave feels laboured — but the indicator has not yet triggered. This is voltage sag under load, not a faulty indicator. If the motor recovers speed when the shaver is rested briefly, the cell is approaching end of life. Replace the cell when resting voltage no longer recovers above 1.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Wella Bella shaver slow down mid-shave even though the battery indicator still shows charge?

The Ni-MH cell's voltage sags under motor load before the BMS reaches its low-battery cutoff point, so the indicator lags behind real capacity. The motor slows because it is not getting enough current, not because of a head or motor fault. If the shaver recovers speed after a 30-second rest, the cell is near end of life. Check resting voltage — if it no longer holds above 1.1V, replace the cell.

My shaver won't charge in the dock after I rinsed it — is the battery dead?

Probably not. Moisture bridging the two dock contacts causes the BMS to trip a protection fault, and the device reports this as a dead battery rather than a charging error. Remove the shaver from the dock, dry the port and the dock pins thoroughly, and leave both exposed to air for at least an hour before reconnecting. If charging resumes after drying, the cell itself is fine — the fault was contact-level, not internal.

The shaver charges fully but seems to run out much faster than it used to — what causes that?

Daily partial charging without full discharge cycles causes voltage depression in Ni-MH cells — the usable capacity range shrinks and the charge indicator drifts to match the degraded cell. This is a normal Ni-MH failure mode in devices charged every day before the cell is depleted. Run the shaver continuously to the BMS cutoff point, then charge it fully in one uninterrupted session. If capacity does not recover after two of these full cycles, replace the cell.
