Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Monster ICON / MNICON — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)
This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion INR18650 cell for the Monster ICON and MNICON portable Bluetooth speakers. It replaces the internal cell when the original has degraded or failed entirely. Fit covers both the ICON and MNICON variants, which share the same cell format and connector arrangement.
- ICON and MNICON cell compatibility: Both models use the same 18650 cell bay and draw from the same 3.7V nominal rail. The BMS in each unit expects the same charge termination voltage and impedance profile, so the INR18650 cell slots in without any BMS conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the ICON platform. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, hit full charge termination at 4.2V, and held the protection cutoff threshold at the expected low-voltage floor without tripping prematurely.
- Discharge cycling for the ICON: If you use the ICON on a desk and top it off constantly, let it run down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant shallow top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift on the onboard BMS, which then misreports remaining capacity and triggers early shutoff.
Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty on the ICON
The ICON's amplifier needs a stable supply voltage to deliver clean output. As the 18650 cell discharges below roughly 3.5V, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail sags under amplifier load. The amp clips before the BMS low-voltage cutoff kicks in, which is why audio distorts while the indicator still shows charge remaining. Replacing a degraded cell with a fresh 2600mAh INR18650 restores the flat discharge curve and pushes that distortion threshold back to near-empty.
USB charging not starting on a deeply discharged ICON
If the ICON has been stored flat for weeks, the cell can drop below 2.5V — the minimum the BMS will accept for a standard charge cycle. At that point, plugging in via USB does nothing visible: no charging LED, no response. The fix is to apply a trickle pre-charge; some USB chargers do this automatically, but many do not. If the unit shows no sign of life after 30 minutes on charge, try a different USB-C adapter rated for at least 5V/1A with trickle mode, or replace the cell if it will not recover above 2.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Monster ICON plays for a while then Bluetooth drops out only when the volume is loud — why?
The amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current at the same time, and at high volume that combined spike causes the ageing cell to sag below the radio's minimum operating voltage. The Bluetooth module cuts out first because it is more voltage-sensitive than the amp. A fresh INR18650 cell with lower internal resistance holds the rail steady under that combined load. If drops stop at moderate volume but persist at maximum, confirm the replacement cell is seated firmly and the contact strip is clean.
My ICON shows a full charge indicator but the audio cuts off after less than an hour of use — what causes that?
Constant shallow charging without a full discharge cycle causes the BMS fuel gauge to lose track of true cell capacity. The indicator reports full because the gauge is miscalibrated, not because the cell is healthy. Run the speaker down below 20% before recharging at least once a month to recalibrate the gauge. If the problem persists after two full discharge-recharge cycles, the cell itself has degraded and needs replacement.
The Monster ICON feels noticeably warm through the fabric housing during long play sessions — is that a battery problem?
Some warmth is normal — the amplifier generates heat and the fabric housing traps it. The concern is when the battery is also deep into its discharge curve, adding its own heat from rising internal resistance. A degraded cell with high internal resistance discharges unevenly and runs hotter than a fresh cell under the same load. If warmth is increasing compared to when the speaker was new, check cell voltage mid-session; a healthy INR18650 should hold above 3.6V under moderate load.
