Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

ATS Electro-Lube 250 Ultimate Luber / 500 Ultimate Luber — 6V Alkaline Replacement Battery (MD500BATPACK-P)
This is a 6V, 6400mAh alkaline replacement battery for the ATS Electro-Lube 250 Ultimate luber and 500 Ultimate luber. It replaces OEM part MD500BATPACK-P and fits directly into the luber's battery compartment. The pack powers the dispensing motor and control electronics through field maintenance cycles and industrial lubrication rounds.
- 250 and 500 Ultimate luber compatibility: Both the 250 and 500 Ultimate luber models share the same 6V battery rail, connector format, and compartment geometry. A single replacement pack covers both units — no wiring or adapter work needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through motor-start draws and sustained dispensing loads on the bench. The alkaline cell stack held voltage above the luber's low-battery cutoff threshold across the full discharge curve without premature shutoff.
- Motor initialisation tip: After fitting a new pack, trigger one short manual dispense cycle before leaving the unit in automated mode. The luber's motor controller reads back-EMF on the first drive pulse to calibrate torque output — skipping this on a fresh pack can cause the unit to flag a motor fault on the first scheduled dispense event.
Why the Ultimate luber stops mid-dispense cycle even with a new battery installed
The dispensing motor draws a sharp current spike at start — higher than the steady-state run current — and alkaline cells are sensitive to instantaneous load. If the grease path is partially blocked or the ambient temperature drops below 5°C, internal resistance in the alkaline stack rises enough that terminal voltage sags below the controller's cutoff point during that start spike. The unit then shuts off, even though the cells still hold most of their charge. Clearing any blockage in the grease outlet and bringing the unit above ambient before starting restores normal operation. In cold environments, pre-warming the battery pack to room temperature before deployment resolves most mid-cycle stoppages.
Luber powers on but will not complete a scheduled dispense — motor clicks and unit resets
A single click followed by a reset cycle usually points to the motor controller detecting an overcurrent condition on the first drive pulse. This happens when a new alkaline pack is installed into a unit that has been sitting unused — residual grease in the dispense path thickens and increases motor load. The controller interprets the high-torque demand as a fault and resets rather than risk stalling. Run two or three short manual dispense bursts immediately after fitting the new pack to break down the thickened grease and reduce starting torque before the automated schedule takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions
The luber completed one dispense cycle then stopped — the battery shows no charge even though it's brand new. What happened?
A single heavy dispense cycle can cause a fresh alkaline pack to hit its voltage floor if the grease outlet is partially restricted. The motor-start current spike under load is high, and alkaline cells drop terminal voltage sharply when that draw coincides with a blockage. Check the grease outlet nozzle for hardened lubricant before fitting the next pack. Clear any obstruction, then reinstall — the pack will likely recover and complete subsequent cycles normally.
The luber ran fine for weeks, then started dispensing short — noticeably less grease per cycle than before. The battery isn't dead yet. What's causing it?
Alkaline cells don't fail abruptly — they slope down. As the pack discharges past roughly 5.4V under load, the motor runs with less torque and the dispensing piston doesn't complete its full stroke. The unit stays on and appears functional, but output volume drops. Check terminal voltage under load with a multimeter; if it reads below 5.4V during a dispense burst, the pack is in its end-of-life region. Replace the pack at that point rather than waiting for a full shutoff warning.
The luber sat in the equipment locker for three months with the old pack inside. Now the new pack is installed but the unit won't start at all — just a brief power LED flash. What's the reset procedure?
Three months of inactivity with a depleted alkaline pack can leave residual electrolyte oxidation on the battery contacts, raising contact resistance high enough to prevent the controller from seeing a valid supply voltage. Remove the new pack, clean the battery contacts with a dry cloth or fine emery strip, then reinstall. If the LED still only flashes, press and hold the manual dispense button for five seconds immediately after fitting the pack — this forces the controller through a hard initialisation rather than a normal wake cycle.
