Fits Hemisphere S320 and S320 GNSS receivers, replacing OEM battery pack 7.4V 2600mAh.
7.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers 19.24Wh to sustain continuous satellite signal acquisition during extended surveying sessions without mid-measurement shutdown.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment on the S320 rear panel with a single twist-lock tab that prevents accidental ejection during transport.
We bench tested this cell against the S320 BMS protocol and confirmed stable voltage regulation under sustained 500mA GPS module draw with no early cutoff events.
After installation, run the S320 internal battery calibration cycle from the Settings menu — the instrument recalibrates its voltage thresholds to the new pack, preventing false low-battery warnings on the first field deployment.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hemisphere S320 GNSS Receiver — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 2600mAh (19.24Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the factory pack in the Hemisphere S320 GNSS receiver. The S320 is a field-deployed geodetic instrument used for surveying and construction positioning. Slot this pack in when the original no longer holds a charge through a full field session.

  • S320 platform fit: The S320 and S320 GNSS share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one pack covers both variants. The voltage rail matches the internal regulator that powers the satellite tracking board and GNSS engine simultaneously.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through cold-start power-on, satellite acquisition, and sustained logging under full antenna load. The BMS held communication with the instrument throughout and did not trip on the current draw at initialisation.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the S320 instrument menu before heading to site. The receiver maps battery state during that cycle — skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session even when the pack is near full charge.

BMS lockout after the S320 sat unused in a case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the S320 sat in a carry case for several months, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS latches off as a protection measure and the instrument will not power on even when placed on charge. A brief connection to a bench charger capable of forcing a low-current pre-charge pulse can bring the cell voltage back above the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes. Target a cell voltage above 3.0V per cell before switching to the standard charge rate.

S320 readings reset or log entries drop mid-session

This happens when sustained GNSS engine load pulls the pack voltage low enough to cause a momentary dropout on the instrument's internal power rail. The processor resets but the antenna module stays live, so the session appears to continue while the logged data has a gap. It is not a firmware issue — it is a voltage sag caused by a degraded or deeply cycled cell that can no longer hold voltage under load. Check the pack under load with a multimeter: a healthy 7.4V pack should hold above 7.0V with the receiver actively tracking satellites. Replace the pack if voltage sags below that threshold during acquisition.

Frequently Asked Questions

The S320 powers on fine but shuts itself off the moment I start a USB data transfer to my PC — why?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of the active GNSS engine — the processor, antenna module, and USB controller all run simultaneously, and that combined current can push a marginal pack below the BMS cutoff threshold. The shutdown is the BMS protecting the cells, not a firmware fault. Charge the pack fully before attempting a transfer, and avoid transferring data while the receiver is also actively logging a session. If the shutdown still occurs on a full charge, the pack's internal resistance has risen enough that it can no longer supply the peak current — replace it.

I installed the new battery but the S320 is showing a low-battery warning almost immediately after a full charge — what's going on?

The S320 maps battery state against internal voltage thresholds during the calibration cycle in the instrument menu. If you skipped that cycle after fitting the new pack, the receiver is still referencing the threshold profile it built for the old degraded cells. Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field use — the receiver will rebuild its voltage-to-charge map against the new pack and the premature warnings will stop.

My S320 won't charge at all after sitting unused for three months — the charger light doesn't even respond. Is the pack dead?

Most likely the pack dropped below the BMS recovery voltage during storage, causing the protection circuit to latch off completely. A standard charger cannot recover a pack in this state because the BMS blocks current flow. Use a charger with a low-current pre-charge or recovery mode — some wall chargers for Li-ion packs include this. Apply a trickle charge at no more than 0.1C until the pack reaches at least 3.0V per cell (6.0V total), then switch to normal charging. If the pack does not respond within 30 minutes of the recovery attempt, the cells have degraded past safe recovery and the pack should be replaced.
