Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Softing IT WireXpert — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (228013)
This is a 7.4V 5500mAh Li-ion battery for the Softing IT WireXpert cable certifier. It fits the WireXpert and WireXpert WX_AC_BAT1 configurations. At 40.7Wh, it restores full operating capacity to the unit so technicians can run certification sessions without being tethered to a charger.
- WireXpert and WX_AC_BAT1 fitment: Both variants share the same 7.4V bus, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single pack covers either configuration without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on the WireXpert platform. The BMS held stable across certification test sequences, including the current draw spikes that occur when the active link module initialises at test start.
- First-use calibration on the WireXpert: After fitting a new pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before going to site. The WireXpert maps battery state during calibration — skip it and the low-battery indicator triggers early on the first certification session, interrupting your test sequence.
WireXpert shutting down mid-certification with no low-battery warning
The WireXpert draws a short current spike every time the active link module powers a remote end. An aged or marginal cell cannot maintain voltage through that spike, and the BMS trips to protect the pack before the fuel gauge registers critical. The result is an abrupt shutdown with no warning on screen. A new pack with full cell capacity holds voltage through that load event without tripping. If shutdowns persist after fitting a new battery, check that the calibration cycle has been completed — uncalibrated packs report inaccurate state-of-charge to the instrument.
WireXpert showing inconsistent battery percentage at every reboot
The WireXpert reads battery percentage against fixed voltage thresholds. A new cell's discharge curve sits slightly higher than a worn cell at equivalent charge states, so the instrument recalculates percentage differently each time it boots until it has logged enough cycles to map the new curve. This is not a fault — it resolves after two to three full charge-discharge cycles. To speed up the process, run the instrument through the calibration menu immediately after fitting the pack, which forces the instrument to re-anchor its thresholds to the new cell voltage profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
The WireXpert won't power on after the battery sat unused in the carry case for several months — is the pack dead?
When a Li-ion pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell through prolonged self-discharge, the BMS enters sleep mode and blocks normal charge input as a protection measure. Plug the battery into the WireXpert charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — most BMS circuits recover from sleep on a trickle input before accepting a full charge current. If the charger LED does not respond at all after 45 minutes, the cell voltage has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold and the pack will not revive.
The WireXpert powers on fine but resets or loses the current test log mid-session — what causes that?
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a full shutdown. During a long certification run, continuous signal generation across all four pairs draws steady current; if cell impedance has risen with age, voltage sags just enough to cause the processor to reset without fully powering off. The test log is written to memory on completion, so an interrupted session leaves no saved record. Fit a fresh pack and confirm cell voltage at rest reads above 8.0V before starting a session.
The WireXpert shuts down the moment I start a USB data transfer to the PC, even with a full charge showing — why?
USB data transfer runs the processor at full load while the battery is simultaneously powering the display, storage, and the USB controller. The combined draw is higher than any single measurement task, and a cell that handles normal certification sequences can still sag under that combined load. Check that the pack resting voltage is above 8.0V before transferring — a reading below that with a "full" indicator means the voltage thresholds have not been recalibrated to the new cell. Run the calibration cycle through the instrument menu, then attempt the transfer again.
