Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Testo Fluegas Analyzer — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR-200AB27)
This is a 6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Testo Fluegas Analyzer. It fits the combustion exhaust gas measurement instrument used in HVAC and industrial flue gas testing. Voltage and capacity match the original HHR-200AB27 specification exactly.
- Fluegas Analyzer platform fit: The Testo Fluegas Analyzer draws a stable low-current load during most of a measurement session, but spikes sharply when the probe module initialises. This pack's BMS handles that initialisation surge without tripping — the cell configuration and protection thresholds match what the instrument expects on startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe-on and probe-off sequences, including O2 sensor warm-up draws. The BMS held steady through each initialisation spike and maintained voltage within the instrument's operating window throughout the sustained logging load.
- Post-install calibration step: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS lockout after the analyzer sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. After several months in storage, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 4.5V for a 6V Ni-MH pack — and the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent cell damage. In lockout, the charger sees no response and the instrument will not power on. Connect the pack to the Testo charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes; most BMS circuits recover once the charger applies a low-current wake pulse above 4.5V total pack voltage.
Readings reset or drop out mid-logging session with no low-battery warning
This happens when the sustained current draw from multiple active sensors — O2, temperature, and combustion efficiency running simultaneously — pulls pack voltage below the instrument's reset threshold before the battery indicator flags a problem. The voltage sag is momentary but enough to interrupt the data stream. It is more common with a pack that has aged cells or was not fully charged before deployment. Charge the pack to full, confirm the green charge indicator on the Testo charger before disconnecting, and run the calibration cycle before the next session.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Testo analyzer powers on fine but shuts off the moment the probe starts heating up — is that the battery?
Yes. The O2 probe draws a current spike during its warm-up phase that can exceed what a weakened or partially charged pack can deliver without voltage sagging below the instrument's cutoff threshold. The BMS trips to protect the cells, and the analyzer loses power. Charge the pack fully until the Testo charger shows a green indicator, then run the instrument's calibration cycle before connecting the probe — this lets the instrument map the pack's state before the probe load hits.
The battery percentage on the display jumps around after I fit a new pack — it shows 80%, then 40%, then back up. What's happening?
The Testo analyzer's voltage-based battery indicator recalibrates itself to a new cell's discharge curve over the first few charge-discharge cycles. Ni-MH cells also have a flatter discharge curve than Li-ion, so small voltage shifts produce larger percentage swings until the instrument has learned the new pack's behaviour. This is not a fault — it settles after two or three full cycles. Run a full calibration sequence through the instrument menu after the first full charge to accelerate this process.
The pack will not charge at all after the analyzer was stored over winter — the charger light just stays red or shows nothing.
Extended storage drains Ni-MH cells below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 4.5V for this 6V pack, and the BMS blocks charging to prevent reverse-polarity cell damage. Leave the pack connected to the Testo charger for 90 minutes without interruption — the charger applies a low-current trickle that pulls the pack voltage above the recovery threshold and re-enables the BMS. If the charge indicator does not change to amber or green after 90 minutes, check that the pack contacts are clean and making full contact with the charger terminals.
