Fits Vetronix 03002152 and Consult II diagnostic instruments; replaces OEM part numbers VTE03002152 and 02002720-01.
7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers steady voltage under sustained sensor load without drooping mid-measurement.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a Consult II probe initialization cycle — no BMS cutoff, clean handoff to sensor power draw.
After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment so it maps battery state correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vetronix 03002152 / Consult II — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (VTE03002152)

This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Vetronix 03002152 and Consult II handheld diagnostic and measurement instruments. It replaces OEM part numbers VTE03002152 and 02002720-01. Capacity and dimensions match the original pack: 50.75 × 53.17 × 29.43mm.

  • 03002152 and Consult II compatibility: Both models share the same 7.2V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through probe initialisation sequences and sustained sensor logging loads. The BMS held voltage through the current spike at probe power-up and did not trip under continuous measurement draw.
  • Calibration cycle before field deployment: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before taking it into the field. The Vetronix firmware maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings to fire during your first measurement session even when the pack is fully charged.

BMS lockout after the Consult II sat unused in a carry case for months

Ni-MH cells self-discharge over time. If the instrument sat unused long enough, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V on a 7.2V Ni-MH pack. At that point the BMS enters a protection lockout and the charger sees the pack as absent or dead. A slow pre-charge at a low current rate (trickle mode, 0.1C) for 15–20 minutes is usually enough to lift the cell voltage above the recovery floor and allow normal charging to resume. Most Ni-MH chargers with a recovery or conditioning mode handle this automatically.

Readings resetting or dropping out during an active logging session

If the instrument resets or sensor readings cut out mid-session without a low-battery warning, the cause is usually voltage sag under sustained sensor load rather than a depleted pack. Ni-MH cells that have cycled heavily lose internal resistance headroom — voltage dips briefly below the instrument's operating floor when multiple sensors draw simultaneously. A replacement pack with fresh cells restores the voltage floor under load. After fitting this battery, confirm stable readings by running the instrument at full sensor load for several minutes before logging critical measurements.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vetronix Consult II powers on fine but shuts down the moment I start a USB data transfer to the PC — why?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of the instrument's active measurement load. On an aged or low pack, this pushes current demand above what the cells can sustain without voltage drooping below the BMS cutoff. The BMS trips to protect the cells and the instrument shuts down. Fit a fresh pack, confirm the battery icon shows a full charge, then re-attempt the transfer.

The 03002152 will not charge at all after sitting in storage — the charger light just stays red or shows no contact.

Self-discharge over a long storage period can pull Ni-MH cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold — around 5.4V on this pack. Most chargers refuse to initiate a full charge cycle below that floor. Switch your charger to trickle or conditioning mode (0.1C) and hold it there for 15 to 20 minutes; once cell voltage climbs above the recovery threshold, the charger will shift into normal charge mode automatically.

My Vetronix instrument shows a full battery on screen immediately after charging, but the percentage jumps down erratically during the first measurement session — is the pack faulty?

This is a voltage-threshold recalibration issue, not a faulty pack. The instrument's fuel indicator is keyed to the voltage curve of the old, degraded cells — the new Ni-MH cells have a flatter and slightly different discharge curve until the firmware re-learns it. Run the instrument through a complete discharge-to-low-battery and full recharge cycle, then perform the calibration routine in the instrument menu. The percentage display stabilises after one or two full cycles.
