Fits YellowScan Navigator LiDAR scanner; replaces OEM battery for airborne survey missions.
14.4V 6400mAh pack delivers 92.16Wh for extended flight time on terrain capture operations.
Battery slides into the YellowScan Navigator chassis with keyed connector; locking tab secures during vibration.
Bench testing showed steady 14.4V output under sustained sensor load; BMS handled LiDAR power-up current spike without cutoff.
Before first field deployment, run a full system calibration cycle through the Navigator menu — the instrument maps battery voltage characteristics during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature shutdown warnings mid-survey.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

YellowScan Navigator LiDAR Scanner — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.4V 6400mAh (92.16Wh) Li-ion battery is a direct replacement for the YellowScan Navigator airborne LiDAR scanning system. The Navigator mounts to aircraft for aerial surveying and terrain mapping missions. This pack matches the original voltage rail and physical footprint: 150.34 x 77.34 x 22.56mm.

  • Navigator platform fit: The Navigator draws sustained current through its laser emitter, IMU, and GNSS receiver simultaneously. This pack's cell configuration holds the 14.4V nominal rail steady across that combined load without triggering the BMS undervoltage cutoff mid-scan.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under a simulated multi-sensor draw profile matching the Navigator's acquisition mode. The BMS held charge delivery stable through repeated scan-start current spikes without tripping into protection mode.
  • Pre-flight calibration cycle: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the Navigator's system menu before your first survey mission. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first active scanning session.

BMS cutoff when the Navigator's laser and IMU initialise together

At power-on, the Navigator spins up the laser emitter, IMU, and GNSS module within the same two-second window. That simultaneous initialisation creates a current spike that can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a degraded or partially discharged pack. A healthy, fully charged pack absorbs this spike without issue. If the unit shuts off immediately after the startup sequence, charge the replacement pack to 100% before the next power-on attempt.

Navigator scan data logging cuts out or resets mid-flight

Sustained laser scanning at high point-density settings pulls continuous current for the full acquisition window. If the pack's cells have unevenly degraded, voltage sags under that load and the instrument's internal regulator drops below its operating threshold — causing a mid-session reset or data file truncation. This is distinct from a low-battery warning: the display may still show partial charge when it happens. Check cell balance with a Li-ion cell checker; a healthy pack should show no more than 0.05V spread between cells at rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Navigator powers on fine but shuts down as soon as active scanning starts — why?

The laser emitter and IMU together draw peak current at scan initiation, and a pack below roughly 13.5V resting voltage can't sustain that spike — the BMS trips into protection mode. This happens even when the display shows a partial charge, because the voltage indicator recalibrates to the new cell as the instrument runs. Charge the pack fully before the first flight and confirm resting voltage is at or above 16.4V after a full charge cycle.

The replacement pack won't charge at all after the Navigator sat in a carry case for several months — what's wrong?

Li-ion cells that discharge below approximately 2.5V per cell during long storage trigger the BMS sleep state, and most standard chargers won't initiate a charge cycle on a pack in that condition. The BMS needs a recovery pulse — some smart chargers have a "recovery" or "wake" mode that applies a low-current trickle to bring cell voltage back above the BMS wake threshold. If your charger lacks that mode, apply a 0.1C trickle charge at 14.4V for 15–20 minutes, then switch to your normal charge profile once the pack responds.

The Navigator's battery indicator jumps around erratically after installing the new pack — is the pack faulty?

The instrument's voltage-threshold indicator recalibrates to a new cell's discharge curve over the first few cycles — erratic percentage readings on cycle one or two are normal. The Navigator maps battery state progressively as it logs discharge data from the new pack. Run two full charge-to-depletion cycles through normal survey use, and the indicator will stabilise to an accurate reading by the third session.
