This is a 3.7V, 6000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Acer Iconia One 10 B3-A40 tablet. It replaces OEM part PR-279594N and fits the 10-inch Android tablet directly. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or shuts the tablet down unexpectedly.

  • B3-A40 fit: The B3-A40 uses a flat Li-Polymer pouch cell at 3.7V nominal. This unit matches the original connector pinout and BMS handshake so the tablet's charge controller recognises it without errors on boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran a full charge cycle and monitored BMS behaviour through charge termination. The protection circuit responded correctly to trickle, constant-current, and CV phases with no thermal trip or error flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after installation.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery swap

The B3-A40 draws hard when the display is at full brightness and WiFi is active together. That combined load causes a voltage sag that trips the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches zero. The old cell's discharge curve is still mapped in firmware, so the percentage shown does not match the new cell's actual state of charge. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this re-maps the curve and stops premature cutoffs.

Fast charging unavailable after fitting a replacement cell

The B3-A40 charge IC re-negotiates charge current on the first accepted cycle with a new cell. Until that cycle completes, the controller defaults to standard 5V charging as a precaution. This is normal behaviour — not a fault with the battery or the charger. Charge the tablet fully once using the original Acer adapter and fast charging will re-enable on the next session.

The B3-A40 tablet gets noticeably warm while charging with the replacement battery — should I stop?

Some warmth during the constant-current phase is normal when a charge IC is running its first full cycle on a new cell. The BMS monitors cell temperature and will interrupt charging if it crosses a safe threshold. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or charging stops repeatedly before 100%, check that the area around the tablet is ventilated and not resting on a soft surface. A surface temperature above roughly 45°C during charging is the point to investigate further.

Battery percentage drops fast from 100% but then slows down — why does this happen on the B3-A40?

This is fuel gauge drift caused by the IC mapping a discharge curve it learned from the degraded original cell. The new cell has a different voltage-to-capacity curve, so the early percentage steps appear larger than they should. It corrects itself after one full calibration cycle — discharge the tablet to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. After that cycle the percentage steps should track evenly across the full range.
