Fits Microsoft Surface Book 1785 keyboard, replaces OEM part G3HTA001H.
7.59V, 8900mAh Li-Polymer cell powers the detachable keyboard base wireless module and input circuitry.
Connector slides into the keyboard battery slot with alignment notch; locking tab secures against spring contact frame.
We tested the BMS on first charge cycle — no thermal spike, voltage ramp was steady, fuel gauge IC initialized without fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Surface Book 1785 Keyboard — 7.59V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (G3HTA001H)

This is a 7.59V, 8900mAh (67.55Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the detachable keyboard base of the Microsoft Surface Book 1785. It replaces OEM part G3HTA001H. The keyboard base draws from this cell to power the secondary battery system, additional USB ports, and wireless input functions when the screen is docked.

  • Surface Book 1785 keyboard base fit: The 1785 keyboard base uses a dedicated battery separate from the clipboard screen unit. Both communicate charge state through the hinge connector. This cell matches the connector pinout, BMS handshake protocol, and physical dimensions (293.00 × 116.76 × 5.50mm) required for that docking interface.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Surface Book docking and undocking sequence under combined keyboard, USB, and display-pass-through load. The BMS responded correctly to charge negotiation from the clipboard unit and held voltage within the expected 7.59V nominal range without tripping protection circuits.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run the keyboard base down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC calibrates against the new cell during that first full cycle and corrects the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a swap.

Why the Surface Book keyboard base reports a different charge percentage than the clipboard screen

The Surface Book runs two separate fuel gauge ICs — one in the clipboard screen, one in the keyboard base. After a keyboard battery swap, the base gauge is calibrated to a cell with different internal resistance characteristics than the original. Windows aggregates both readings and can display totals that look inconsistent. The base gauge needs one full discharge and charge cycle to map its state-of-charge curve to the new cell. Until that cycle completes, the percentage shown in Windows Battery settings may read 10–15% higher or lower than actual capacity.

Surface Book keyboard base shutting off at 15–25% remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the degraded original cell. The old cell had a steep voltage cliff at low charge — the gauge was tuned to cut off at that point. A fresh cell has a flatter discharge curve, but the gauge triggers the same early shutoff voltage threshold before the new cell is actually depleted. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. That cycle rewrites the gauge's end-of-discharge voltage reference to match the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

The keyboard base percentage in Windows jumps around after I put in a new battery — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC in the keyboard base is still calibrated to the resistance profile of the old cell. We saw the same erratic readings on the bench immediately after swapping in a fresh G3HTA001H cell. Run the keyboard base down to automatic shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle resets the gauge and stabilises the percentage display.

Fast charging stopped working on the clipboard screen after I replaced the keyboard base battery — what changed?

The Surface Book clipboard negotiates its charge rate partly based on combined system load, including the keyboard base battery state. With a new base cell at low initial charge, the system may throttle input wattage to balance charging across both batteries simultaneously. After the base battery completes its first full charge cycle, the charge IC re-establishes normal USB-PD negotiation and fast charging on the clipboard unit returns. Confirm the base reads 100% in Windows Battery settings before testing clipboard charge speed again.

The keyboard base gets warm while charging right after the swap — should I be worried?

That warmth is normal during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC on a fresh cell draws slightly higher current as it characterises the new cell's internal resistance, which produces more heat than a broken-in battery. We measured surface temperatures on the bench that stayed within safe operating range throughout. If the base becomes too hot to hold comfortably or Windows shows a battery warning, disconnect and check the connector seating at the hinge.
