Fits Samsung Galaxy Tab E 7.0 2016 4G LTE models SM-T280 and SM-T285 — replaces EB-BT280ABA, EB-BT280ABE, and GH43-04588A.
This 3.8V lithium-polymer cell delivers 4000mAh capacity — enough to restore full daily use to a degraded tablet without a hardware swap.
Connector slides straight into the original slot with a single locking tab on the left side — no adapter required.
We bench-tested this pack against the OEM cell on WiFi and LTE loads — the BMS settled at 4.2V peak with no early cutoff flags.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration and clears inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E 7.0 2016 4G LTE — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BT280ABA)

This 3.8V, 4000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 7.0 2016 4G LTE. It fits SM-T280, SM-T285, and SM-T285M tablets. OEM part numbers EB-BT280ABA, EB-BT280ABE, and GH43-04588A all cross to this same cell.

  • SM-T280 and SM-T285 compatibility: Both variants run the same 3.8V power rail and use the same flex connector and BMS handshake. One cell covers the Wi-Fi-only SM-T280 and the LTE SM-T285 — the charge IC makes no distinction between the two.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an SM-T285 unit. The BMS accepted charge from the first connection, reported state-of-charge to the OS without error, and held voltage within spec across the discharge curve.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installing this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This one full cycle resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that almost always appear after a swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% after battery replacement

The fuel gauge IC in the SM-T280 and SM-T285 stores a learned voltage curve from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, that stored curve no longer matches the real voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The tablet interprets a normal mid-range voltage dip — caused by the display backlight and LTE radio drawing current simultaneously — as a critically low state, and shuts down to protect the hardware. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets that learned curve against the new cell. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% stop.

Fast charging unavailable on the Tab E 7.0 after the battery swap

Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging requires the charge IC to complete at least one full accepted charge cycle before it negotiates higher current from a compatible charger. On a fresh cell install, the IC starts in a conservative mode and steps up only after it has profiled the new cell's internal resistance. Use a genuine Samsung AFC charger for the first charge and let it complete fully without interruption. After that initial cycle, the fast charge handshake re-enables at the correct voltage step.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Samsung Tab E 7.0 shows the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the battery — it jumped from 40% to 2% without warning. What's going on?

The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve, and the new cell doesn't match it yet. The percentage readout is based on stored data, not the actual charge in the new cell. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using it. After that single full cycle, the IC recalibrates and the percentage display stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my SM-T285 after I swapped the battery — it's only slow charging now. How do I fix it?

The Adaptive Fast Charging handshake requires the charge IC to profile the new cell before it allows elevated current. On the first charge after a swap, the IC runs in standard mode regardless of the charger you use. Connect a Samsung AFC-compatible charger and let the first charge run to 100% without interruption. Fast charging re-enables on the next charge cycle once the IC has accepted and logged the cell profile.

My Tab E 7.0 gets warm near the back during charging after the battery replacement — is that a problem with the new cell?

Mild warmth during charging on a new lithium-polymer cell is normal. The charge IC runs a higher current acceptance rate during the first few cycles while it maps the internal resistance of the new cell, which generates slightly more heat than it will once the cell is broken in. If the tablet gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, disconnect and check that the charge voltage at the port is a stable 5V. Normal break-in warmth settles after two to three full charge cycles.
