Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Concept VP4320 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (42391659)
This is a 7.2V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Concept VP4320 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It matches the OEM part number 42391659 and slots directly into the VP4320 battery compartment. Voltage, capacity, and connector position match the original specification.
- VP4320 compatibility: The VP4320 runs a single 7.2V Ni-MH pack that powers the motor controller directly — no cell-count variation exists in this model family, so the voltage rail and connector type are fixed across all VP4320 units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through discharge under a simulated motor load and confirmed the BMS held the voltage rail stable until the protection cutoff, with no premature shutdown or false low-battery flags.
- Dock charging on the VP4320: Do not leave the VP4320 sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charge accelerates capacity fade in Ni-MH cells faster than in lithium packs. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The VP4320 motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked — the battery has to supply more amps to maintain the same airflow speed. Under that sustained high draw, Ni-MH cells show a voltage sag that the motor controller reads as insufficient power, and suction drops noticeably before the indicator registers low. This is not always a failing battery. Check the filter first — if suction recovers after cleaning the filter, the cell pack is fine. If suction still sags on a clean filter, the cells have degraded below 6.8V under load and replacement is needed.
Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a short pause
This pattern points to an overcurrent trip in the battery protection circuit. It happens when restricted airflow — blocked filter, clogged nozzle, or tight carpet pile — forces the motor to pull current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets after a brief rest as internal temperature drops. Clearing the blockage is the first step. If the cutout continues on an unobstructed surface, the cells can no longer sustain the required current without tripping the BMS, and the pack needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VP4320 suction feels weak even with a fully charged battery — is the battery actually the problem?
Not necessarily. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current, which causes voltage sag under load — suction drops even though the cells are charged. Clean the filter and nozzle first, then test again. If suction is still weak on a clean filter and the pack measures below 6.8V under load, the cells have degraded and replacement is the fix.
The VP4320 motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds then comes back on — what's causing that?
That restart pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, jammed nozzle, or thick carpet — the motor pulls more current than the protection circuit allows, so it shuts off briefly and resets once the pack cools slightly. Clear any blockage first. If the cutout happens on a clear surface with no restriction, the cells can no longer deliver the required current without triggering the BMS, and the pack needs replacing.
I left my VP4320 on the charging dock for several weeks and now the runtime is noticeably shorter — can it recover?
Continuous dock charging applies a trickle charge to Ni-MH cells indefinitely, which degrades capacity over time — this damage is not fully reversible through cycling. Running two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles can recover a small amount of lost capacity, but a pack left on the dock for weeks typically does not return to original capacity. Going forward, charge the unit to full and remove it from the dock rather than leaving it docked between uses. If capacity remains noticeably reduced after a few cycles, the pack needs replacing.
