Fits Euro Pro Shark SV780N stick vacuum; replaces OEM part number XB780N.
16.8V Ni-MH at 2000mAh delivers consistent motor voltage throughout cleaning cycles without the voltage sag that causes mid-session power loss.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot on the SV780N handle; locking tab seats with a firm click and must engage fully.
We ran discharge cycles at the motor's sustained draw and confirmed the BMS held voltage stable until final 5 percent capacity — no early cutoff events.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously; Ni-MH packs on permanent trickle charge develop capacity fade within weeks — charge to full and remove when done.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro Shark SV780N — 16.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XB780N)

This is a 16.8V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Euro Pro Shark SV780N cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part XB780N and restores power to the vacuum motor when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification exactly.

  • SV780N motor rail compatibility: The SV780N runs a brushed DC motor on a 16.8V Ni-MH rail. Ni-MH chemistry delivers a flat discharge curve that matches what the motor controller expects across the full charge cycle — a Li-ion substitution at the same nominal voltage would not replicate the same discharge profile.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge-discharge sequence on the SV780N platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault, and the motor drew consistently across the discharge curve without triggering a protection cutoff.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the SV780N: Do not leave the SV780N sitting on its charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge degrade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor is working harder than rated — usually because of a restricted filter or partial blockage. The motor draws more current to maintain suction, which pulls the cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit expects. The vacuum appears to lose power early, but the battery is not always the cause. Check and clean the filter before replacing the cell — a clean filter brings motor draw back within the normal range the battery can sustain.

Motor cutting out mid-use then recovering after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or carpet fibres packed into the brush roll — the motor draws a sustained high current spike the BMS reads as a fault and shuts the output. The cell recovers once the protection timer resets, which is why the vacuum starts again after a short wait. Clear the blockage first. If cutouts continue on an unobstructed path with a clean filter, the original cell's internal resistance has risen too high to handle normal motor-start current — replace the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SV780N seems to run out of power well before the battery light comes on — why does suction drop so early?

A clogged or partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than normal, which pulls the cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit tracks. The vacuum loses effective suction while the indicator still shows charge remaining. Clean the filter first — if runtime improves, the battery is fine. If the problem continues after a clean filter and fresh charge, the cell's capacity has faded and needs replacing.

The vacuum cuts out mid-clean, then starts again after I wait a minute — what's causing this?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. A blockage in the nozzle, brush roll, or filter causes the motor to draw a sustained current spike the BMS interprets as a fault, so it shuts the output to protect the cell. It resets after a short pause, which is why the vacuum restarts. Clear any blockage and clean the filter — if cutouts stop, the battery is not the problem. If it still trips on a clear, unobstructed path, the cell's internal resistance has risen high enough that normal motor-start current is now triggering the cutoff.

I leave my SV780N on the dock between uses — could that be why the battery fades so fast?

Yes. Ni-MH cells on continuous dock charge receive a low-level trickle current that builds heat inside the cell over time, accelerating capacity fade. The SV780N dock is not designed to switch to a true maintenance mode once the cell is full. Charge the battery to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock and store it off charge until the next session.
