This is a 14.8V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Midea i5, i5 Young, i5 Extra, and i9 EYE cordless vacuum cleaners. It replaces OEM part numbers BP14435A and BP14433A. Fit it when the original pack no longer holds charge or the vacuum loses suction before the indicator reaches low.
- i5 series platform compatibility: The i5, i5 Young, i5 Extra, and i9 EYE all share the same 14.8V battery rail, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers all four models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on an i5 unit. The BMS held voltage within spec under sustained motor load, triggered correctly at low-cell cutoff, and accepted charge from the standard Midea dock without error codes.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the i5
The i5 motor draws more current under restricted airflow — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling the cell voltage down faster than normal operation would. The BMS reads this as approaching cutoff and reduces power to the motor before the indicator registers low. The vacuum feels like it's losing suction, but the battery may still have significant charge remaining. Clean or replace the HEPA and pre-filter first, then test suction under normal load.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum runs over heavy carpet or a blockage restricts the airflow, current draw spikes above the BMS threshold and it cuts the output to protect the cells. The BMS resets after a brief cooling period, which is why the vacuum starts again a few seconds later. Clear any blockage, check that the filter is clean, and confirm cell voltage reads above 13.5V under no-load before ruling out a failing pack.

The i5 motor cuts out for a few seconds during use, then kicks back in on its own — what's happening?
That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, not a random fault. Heavy carpet, a partial blockage, or a dirty filter pushes current draw above the BMS threshold and it shuts output to protect the cells — then resets once the spike clears. Check the filter and the brush roll for blockages first. If the cutouts happen even on hard floor with a clean filter, the pack's cells may be degraded and no longer handling rated load current.
My Midea i5 battery holds less charge than it used to — could continuous dock charging have caused this?
Yes, this is one of the most common causes of early capacity fade in cordless vacuums. Leaving the unit on the dock permanently means the charger trickle-charges the cells indefinitely, which degrades Li-ion capacity faster than normal charge cycles. A replacement pack will restore original capacity, but the same pattern will shorten this one too. Charge to full, remove from the dock, and reconnect only when the pack is depleted.
