Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

OBH Nordica OA8577 / X-Plorer 75S — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V 2600mAh (37.44Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the OBH Nordica OA8577, OA8577NH/NS0, and X-Plorer 75S cordless stick vacuums. It slots into the same battery bay as the original pack and communicates with the same BMS handshake the charger expects. When the original cell degrades and suction drops noticeably earlier in each clean, this is the direct replacement.
- OA8577 and X-Plorer 75S platform fit: Both models run the same 14.4V rail and share the same connector housing and BMS communication protocol. One replacement cell covers the full OA8577NH/NS0 variant range without any adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated discharge loads simulating carpet and hard floor draw profiles. The BMS held the cutoff voltage correctly and showed no false overcurrent trips under sustained suction load.
- Dock charging habit for the OA8577: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. The OA8577 charger continues to trickle charge once full. Remove the vacuum from the dock when the charge indicator shows complete — this significantly slows capacity fade on the new cell.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The OA8577 motor draws current spikes when suction is partially restricted — a clogged filter or blocked inlet forces the motor to work harder, pulling the cell voltage below the BMS threshold before the fuel gauge registers a low charge. The BMS reads this as a capacity problem, but the root cause is restriction, not the cell itself. Before swapping the battery, clean or replace the filter and check the inlet path for blockages. If suction recovers after that, the cell still has usable capacity left.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed cell. When the vacuum encounters a sustained blockage — dense carpet pile, tangled debris at the brush head — current draw spikes above the BMS cutoff threshold and the pack shuts the motor down as a protection measure. The BMS resets automatically after the cell temperature drops slightly, which is why the motor restarts after a brief pause. Clear the blockage, check the brush roll for hair wrap, and resume use. If trips continue on an unobstructed surface, verify the filter is not compacted — a blocked filter replicates the same high-draw condition.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my OBH Nordica X-Plorer 75S lose suction halfway through a clean even though the battery light still shows charged?
The motor is drawing more current than rated because the filter or inlet is partially restricted — this pulls cell voltage down faster than the fuel gauge can track, so the indicator still reads healthy while suction is already suffering. Clean the filter first and check the brush roll and inlet path for blockages. If suction returns to full strength after that, the cell capacity is not the issue. If suction is still weak on a clear, unobstructed filter, the original cell has degraded below 14.4V nominal and replacement is the next step.
The OA8577 battery won't charge on the new replacement cell — the charger light just flashes and stops.
The OBH Nordica charger sends a handshake signal before initiating a full charge cycle, and if the cell voltage has dropped very low during storage or shipping, the charger may refuse to engage the charge cycle. Connect the battery and leave it on the charger for 15–20 minutes — some chargers will attempt a slow pre-charge trickle at low voltage before the handshake completes. If the light continues to flash and no charge starts, check that the terminal contacts on the battery and dock are clean and making full contact. Wipe both contact points with a dry cloth and retry.
My OBH Nordica OA8577 battery fades noticeably faster than it did when new — could leaving it on the dock be the cause?
Yes. The OA8577 charger does not fully disengage once the cell reaches 100% — it continues a low-level trickle charge while the vacuum sits docked. Over weeks, this keeps the cell at maximum charge voltage continuously, which accelerates capacity fade in lithium-ion cells. Remove the vacuum from the dock once the charge indicator shows full and store it off the charger between uses. With the new replacement cell, charging only when the battery is noticeably depleted will preserve usable capacity across significantly more cycles.
