Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Proscenic Summer P1 / Summer P2 / KAKA — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery pack for the Proscenic Summer P1, Summer P2, and KAKA cordless handheld vacuums. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same power rail as the original cell. Capacity is 2000mAh (28.8Wh), matching the rated output of the factory-fitted unit.
- Summer P1, P2, and KAKA compatibility: These three models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds. A single cell revision covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through full charge and discharge cycles on a Summer P1 unit. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination and low-voltage cutoff at the expected thresholds. The motorized brush head and suction motor both drew within normal operating range throughout the test.
- Dock charging habit on these vacuums: Do not leave the Summer P1 sitting on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge fully, then remove from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
A partially blocked filter forces the suction motor to work harder, pulling more current than the rated draw. The BMS reads that spike as a fault condition and throttles output voltage before the battery is anywhere near depleted. The result looks like a dying battery but the cell is actually still charged. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction restores at full motor speed, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-use and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the brush roll — motor current climbs sharply and the BMS shuts the output rail to protect the cells. The pack resets once current demand drops, which is why the motor comes back after a brief pause. Clear the obstruction and check the filter before attributing the fault to the battery. If the trip repeats on a clean vacuum with a new cell, measure resting pack voltage — it should read above 15.6V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Proscenic Summer P1 stopped charging after I put in the replacement battery — the charger light just blinks and nothing happens. What's wrong?
Some Proscenic chargers signal a fault blink when they don't detect the expected BMS handshake on the first connection. Disconnect the battery, wait 60 seconds, then reconnect and place it on the charger — this allows the BMS to re-initialise and present the correct voltage to the charger. If the light still blinks, check that resting pack voltage is above 10V with a multimeter; anything below that means the cells are in a deep-discharge state the standard charger won't recover from without a conditioning charge.
The Summer P1 seems to run out of power much faster than it used to, even with a new battery — suction drops off well before the indicator shows low. Is the filter causing this?
Yes, a restricted filter is the most common cause of early voltage sag on these vacuums. A blocked filter makes the motor pull sustained high current, which drags the pack voltage down faster than normal discharge would. The BMS then reads low voltage and cuts output, even though the cells still hold charge. Remove and tap out the filter, run the vacuum again, and check whether suction holds longer at full strength.
We left the Summer P1 on the dock continuously for two months and now it barely holds a charge — did the dock damage the new battery?
Ni-MH cells are particularly vulnerable to trickle-charge damage from permanent dock connection. Continuous low-level current causes a gradual loss of usable capacity through a process called voltage depression, where individual cells in the pack fall out of balance. After two months on the dock, some capacity loss is likely permanent. Going forward, charge only when the vacuum is depleted, remove it from the dock once the charge light confirms full, and expect recoverable capacity to stabilise after three to five full discharge-charge cycles.
