Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Logitech G930 / F540 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (533-000074)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion cell for the Logitech G930 and F540 wireless gaming headsets. It slots into the headset's internal battery compartment and powers both the 2.4GHz wireless radio and the audio circuitry. Part number 533-000074 covers all variants listed under model 981-000257.
- G930 and F540 platform fit: Both headsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell covers the full 533-000074 range. Swapping between these models carries no electrical risk, provided the connector seats fully before closing the housing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on a G930 unit. The BMS completed its handshake with the base station correctly, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold without requiring a manual reset.
- First-cycle base station protocol: Place the headset in the base station and let it charge to 100% without interruption before the first use session. The G930's base station logs the new cell during this initial charge — skip it and the talk-time indicator will read inaccurately for the first several uses.
Why the G930 cuts out mid-session on a new battery
The G930 draws simultaneously from the audio amplifier and the 2.4GHz radio, and that combined load spikes sharply during loud audio passages or range-edge reconnects. A new cell that has not completed its first full charge cycle has not yet reached stable internal resistance, so voltage can sag briefly under peak draw. The BMS interprets that sag as an undervoltage event and shuts the cell down to protect it. A complete first-cycle charge through the base station resolves this in most cases.
Base station shows full charge but headset dies after short use
This happens when the replacement cell arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — and the base station's charge controller reads that as "nearly full" before the new cell has been properly logged. The headset then deploys that thin charge reserve rapidly under combined radio and audio load. Seat the headset in the base, let it run through a full uninterrupted charge cycle to 4.2V, then drain it through normal use before recharging. The talk-time estimate stabilises after three to five cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions
My G930 keeps cutting out mid-game even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?
The G930 pulls from both the audio amp and the 2.4GHz radio at the same time, and that combined draw spikes under load. If the replacement cell hasn't completed a full first charge cycle, its internal resistance is still elevated and voltage sags briefly — the BMS reads that as undervoltage and shuts the cell down. Seat the headset in the base station and let it charge fully without interruption, then use it until it drains before recharging. Repeat that for three cycles and the cutouts should stop.
The base station won't recognise the new battery — it flashes an error instead of a charge indicator. What do I do?
The G930 base station runs a BMS handshake when a new cell is first seated, and if the connector isn't fully engaged, the handshake fails and throws a charge error. Remove the battery, reseat it firmly until the connector clicks, then place the headset back in the base. If the error persists, hold the headset in the cradle for 10 seconds before releasing — this resets the charge controller and allows the handshake to retry.
The headset gets noticeably warm during long sessions. Is that a problem with the new cell?
Warmth is normal on the G930 — the battery, radio module, and amp are all packed into a small housing with limited airflow. On a healthy cell, surface temperature during extended use stays well below the BMS thermal cutoff threshold. If the housing feels hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery cover is fully seated, as a gap disrupts airflow and traps heat. If temperatures remain high after reseating, let the headset cool for 15 minutes before continuing use.
