Fits Paradox MG6060, MG6160, MG6130 control panels — OEM part 0780100178 direct replacement.
7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH battery sustains alarm monitoring and siren output during mains power loss.
Connector slides straight into the battery holder with a locking tab — orientation keyed, no forcing required.
We bench-tested the cell in a MG6060 panel simulator — BMS accepted the charge within 4 hours, no fault codes.
Do not run a zone test or siren diagnostic for 48 hours after installation — the panel needs full float charge before low-battery reporting becomes accurate.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Paradox MG6060 / MG6160 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (0780100178)

This is a 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Paradox MG6060, MG6160, and MG6130 control panels. It sits on float charge inside the panel enclosure and takes over when mains power drops. Capacity is sourced from the product data: 2000mAh / 14.4Wh.

  • MG6060 / MG6160 / MG6130 compatibility: These panels share the same 7.2V backup rail, the same physical battery bay, and the same BMS charge management circuit. One cell fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the MG6060 platform. The panel accepted the charge cycle without a BMS fault, float voltage stabilised correctly, and no low-battery event was logged after the 48-hour conditioning window.
  • Post-installation hold-off period: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping this cell. Allow the panel to hold the new battery on float charge for 24–48 hours first. Testing before that window closes will often trigger a false low-battery report from the panel's BMS.

Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after a new battery install

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell is not at full capacity the moment the panel lid closes. The BMS on MG-series panels requires a full 48-hour float charge cycle before the battery can sustain the control board through a prolonged mains outage. If the outage hits within that window, the panel may drop below operating voltage, wipe volatile memory, and reset to factory defaults. Let the panel sit on mains power for 48 hours before treating the backup battery as operational.

Siren not sounding on test immediately after battery replacement

MG-series panels impose a 30–60 second charge stabilisation delay on the siren output after the backup battery is reconnected. This is a firmware-level protection, not a wiring fault. The siren circuit will not trigger until the panel confirms the battery voltage is above its minimum threshold. Wait at least 60 seconds after closing the enclosure, then re-run the siren test — the output should fire normally once the voltage check passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Paradox MG6060 is showing a low battery fault less than an hour after I put the new cell in — did I get a dead battery?

Almost certainly not. MG-series panels read the backup battery voltage in real time, and a brand-new Ni-MH cell ships at a partial state of charge — not full. The panel will flag low battery until the cell completes its float charge cycle, which takes 24–48 hours on continuous mains power. Leave the panel powered and check the status again after 48 hours; the fault should clear once the battery voltage holds above the panel's threshold.

The alarm lost all its zone programming during last night's power cut, even though I replaced the battery last week — what went wrong?

A Ni-MH backup cell needs a full 48-hour conditioning period on float charge before it can sustain the MG6060 control board through a real outage. If the power cut happened within that window, the battery could not deliver enough voltage to hold volatile memory, and the panel reset. Reinstall your zone programming, then let the panel sit on mains power for 48 uninterrupted hours before the backup is considered conditioned.

After swapping the battery in my MG6130, the panel is showing a tamper fault — I haven't touched any sensors.

On MG-series panels, a tamper fault that appears immediately after a battery swap almost always means the enclosure lid or cover is not fully seated. The tamper contact is a small spring-loaded switch on the panel housing — it triggers if the lid is even slightly ajar or if a fixing tab hasn't clicked back into place. Open the enclosure, check that every corner of the lid is flush, press it firmly closed, and re-arm the panel. The tamper fault should clear within a few seconds of the contact closing.
