Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG Teleport K — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B169)
This is a 7.2V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG Teleport K two-way radio. It fits the original B169 battery position directly. Use it to restore transmit and receive function on a Teleport K that no longer holds charge.
- Teleport K platform fit: The Teleport K runs a 7.2V rail with a specific contact layout and BMS handshake tied to the B169 form factor. This pack matches that voltage, connector geometry, and cell count so the radio's charge detection circuit recognises the pack on insertion.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a Teleport K dock. The BMS handled PTT transmit spikes without tripping overcurrent protection, and the charger dock accepted the pack cleanly from the first insertion.
- First-cycle conditioning on Ni-MH: Ni-MH cells ship at partial charge. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use before expecting the bar indicator to reflect true capacity — the cells need conditioning, not a top-up from a wall adapter alone.
Why the Teleport K cuts out mid-transmission on a new B169 pack
Pressing PTT draws a sudden current spike as the radio's RF stage fires up. On a fresh Ni-MH pack that hasn't been conditioned, internal cell impedance is higher than it will be after a few cycles. That spike can momentarily drag voltage below the radio's transmit threshold, triggering a cutout. It is not a fault — the BMS is doing its job. After two full charge-discharge cycles, cell impedance drops and the cutouts stop.
Bar indicator shows one bar on a fully charged new pack
The Teleport K reads voltage thresholds and maps them to bar segments — it does not track charge state any other way. A new Ni-MH cell fresh from storage sits at roughly 7.0–7.1V, which the radio reads as low. Charge the pack fully on the dock until the charge LED goes green, then let it rest for 15 minutes before powering the radio on. At full charge the pack should read 7.9–8.1V open circuit, which maps to a full bar display.

Frequently Asked Questions
The charger dock LED blinks red and never switches to charging — is the new B169 pack faulty?
It is almost always a contact issue, not a faulty pack. New Ni-MH cells also ship below the dock's acceptance voltage threshold, which can cause the same blink pattern. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and let the dock sit for 60 seconds — the dock needs a clean contact cycle to register the pack's voltage before it will begin charging. If the pack reads above 6.8V on a multimeter, the pack is fine.
The Teleport K drops to low audio output and weak signal mid-shift even though the battery shows charged at the start — what causes that?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF load. Ni-MH packs deliver lower voltage as discharge deepens, and the Teleport K's transmit stage draws more current than the receive stage. When cell capacity has partly faded, voltage sags faster under that RF draw and the radio reduces output to stay within operating limits. Check open-circuit voltage after the shift — if it reads below 6.9V after what should be a partial discharge, the original cells have capacity fade and the replacement pack will resolve it.
The Teleport K was stored unused for several months and the new B169 pack inserted flat from the box won't power the radio on at all — is the dock at fault?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage and can sit below the radio's minimum power-on voltage. The dock may also refuse to charge a pack it reads as too deeply discharged. Measure the pack voltage — if it reads below 5.5V, place it in the dock and watch for any LED activity within 90 seconds. Most AEG-compatible docks apply a trickle pre-charge to recover packs in this range before switching to full charge. If the dock shows no response at all, trickle the pack from a compatible Ni-MH charger set to 100mA until it reaches 6.5V, then transfer to the dock.
