Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Asus Chromebook Flip C434 — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C31N1824)
This is a 11.55V, 4050mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Asus Chromebook Flip C434 2-in-1 convertible. It replaces OEM part numbers C31N1824 and 0B200-03290000. It fits the C434TA series including AI0041, E10013, and AI0045 variants.
- C434TA series fitment: All C434TA variants share the same 11.55V three-cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one battery covers the full model range. Voltage rails and charge termination logic are identical across these SKUs.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a C434TA board and confirmed the BMS negotiated charge termination correctly at 100%, with no false low-voltage cutoffs across repeated discharge runs under combined CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the C434: After fitting, run the battery down until ChromeOS triggers hibernation — do not interrupt it. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
Why the C434 shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The C434's fuel gauge IC calibrates against the original cell's charge curve stored in EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still reading against the old cell's data, so the voltage it measures at 20–30% doesn't match what it expects at that state-of-charge. The BMS interprets this mismatch as a voltage cliff and triggers shutdown as a protection event. Running two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles recalibrates the IC against the new cell's actual chemistry and eliminates the premature cutoff.
ChromeOS reporting battery health as "Poor" immediately after fitting
The health percentage shown in ChromeOS diagnostics pulls from the EEPROM data the BMS carried over from the worn cell — it does not re-evaluate the new cell until a learn cycle completes. This means a brand-new cell can show 40–60% health on day one, which is a data read error, not a battery fault. Complete the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge sequence described above. After two full cycles, the reported health figure should reset to reflect the actual capacity of the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The C434 fuel gauge is jumping all over the place — showing 60%, then 30%, then back to 50% within minutes. Is the new battery faulty?
This is normal for the first two to three cycles after a cell swap. The fuel gauge IC on the C434 uses a learned model built against the old cell's charge curve, and that model is inaccurate for the new chemistry until it recalibrates. Run the battery down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — repeat this twice. By the third cycle the gauge IC will have enough data to track the new cell accurately and the jumping stops.
ChromeOS diagnostics shows the battery Wh rating as 39Wh or similar — lower than the 46.78Wh on the label. Why is the system reading it wrong?
The Wh value displayed in ChromeOS pulls from the EEPROM on the BMS, which retains the rated capacity data from the previous cell. The new cell's actual chemistry hasn't been written into that register yet. This is an EEPROM read, not a measurement of the installed cell. After completing a full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted full charge, the BMS updates the stored value and the Wh figure in system info corrects itself.
The C434 charges to 80% and then stops — it won't push past that no matter how long it stays plugged in.
The C434 BIOS includes a battery charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell wear during AC-heavy use. This is a firmware-controlled feature, not a fault with the replacement cell. Open the MyASUS app or check BIOS settings under Power Management and disable the charge limit or set it to 100%. Once that setting is cleared, the battery will charge to full.
