Fits Avantree SP850 portable Bluetooth speaker; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
3.7V, 1200mAh capacity restores full speaker output and wireless connectivity runtime.
Flat connector seats into battery slot with single locking tab; no polarity reversals possible.
Bench testing showed BMS accepted full 4.2V charge curve on first insertion with no early cutoff.
On first use, run the speaker through one complete discharge-to-shutdown cycle before normal operation — this lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's actual voltage curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avantree SP850 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Avantree SP850 portable Bluetooth speaker. It slots in when the original cell degrades and can no longer hold a useful charge. Dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — confirm these against your existing cell before ordering.

  • SP850 fit notes: The SP850 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration. This cell matches the original voltage rail and physical footprint. The BMS on the speaker board manages charge termination and low-voltage cutoff, so the replacement cell needs to match nominal voltage exactly — this one does.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, reached full charge termination at 4.2V, and low-voltage cutoff triggered before the cell dropped below 3.0V under load.
  • First-cycle recalibration on the SP850: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. The SP850 charge controller recalibrates its fuel gauge against the new cell's discharge curve during this first full cycle.

Why the SP850 shuts off while still showing charge remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under load, so the controller sees a voltage cliff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The BMS triggers a protection cutoff at that point to prevent cell damage. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the calibration.

SP850 not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks normal charging to prevent charging a damaged cell. Connect the speaker to a known-good USB power source and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on — most BMS circuits include a trickle pre-charge path that recovers the cell up to a safe threshold before allowing full charge current. If the charge indicator eventually activates, let it complete the full charge cycle to 4.2V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SP850 shuts down suddenly even though it still shows battery left — what's causing that?

The fuel gauge IC in the SP850 was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different voltage profile under load, so the controller hits a voltage cliff earlier than the displayed percentage suggests and trips the BMS cutoff. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge the speaker uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle recalibrates the fuel gauge against the new cell and clears the early-cutoff behaviour.

The SP850 won't turn on at all after I fitted the new battery — is the cell dead?

Most likely the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage, triggering BMS lockout. The BMS blocks standard charge current below that threshold to prevent charging a potentially compromised cell. Plug the speaker into a USB power source and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the pre-charge trickle path should recover the cell to a safe level and allow normal charging to resume. Once the charge indicator activates, let it run to a full 4.2V charge before use.

The battery percentage on the SP850 keeps jumping around erratically after the swap — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC is reading the new cell against the old discharge model stored in memory, so the percentage estimates are off until the controller has real data from the new cell. One complete discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the IC enough data to build an accurate state-of-charge curve. Percentage readings should stabilise after that first full cycle.
