Fits VIVO X5 MAX, X5 MAX+, X5 MAX V, X5 MAX L smartphone; replaces OEM battery B-78 and BK-B-78.
3.8V nominal, 2000mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 7.6Wh — enough capacity for a full daily cycle on this device's display and modem load.
Connector is flex-tab adhesive-mount; slides into the phone's battery slot with polarity marked on the pack underside; locking tab seats flush against frame.
We bench-tested this pack at 500mA discharge with the X5 MAX fuel gauge IC; BMS accepted charge handshake without fault codes; voltage held flat through 80% capacity.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BBK VIVO X5 MAX Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (B-78)

This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces part number B-78 in the VIVO X5 MAX, X5 MAX+, X5 MAX V, and X5MAX L smartphones. It restores power to a phone that no longer holds a charge or shuts down unexpectedly. Physical dimensions are 101.70 x 49.97 x 2.56 mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure of your exact variant.

  • X5 MAX variant compatibility: The MAX, MAX+, MAX V, and MAX L all share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, so B-78 spans the full lineup. The BMS handshake protocol and voltage rail are identical across these variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the X5 MAX platform and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the charge IC — no charge rejection on the first cycle and no thermal fault triggers during a standard 5V/1A charge session.
  • First-cycle fast charge lockout: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. Under peak load — mobile data, display brightness, or a CPU spike — the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects based on the old cell's discharge curve stored in NVRAM. The phone interprets the voltage sag as a critically low state and cuts power to protect the system. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and maps the new cell's actual discharge profile. After calibration, shutdowns at 20–30% should stop.

Phone won't power on after sitting in storage with a flat battery

If the cell has self-discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks all current flow — the phone appears completely dead. Connect to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it untouched for 15–20 minutes. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a low rate until the voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point normal charging resumes. If the phone still shows no sign of charging after 30 minutes, check that the charger output is at least 5V/1A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my VIVO X5 MAX shutting off at 25% after I put in the new battery?

The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped for the old, degraded cell — the new cell's voltage drops at a different rate under load, so the IC triggers a low-voltage cutoff earlier than it should. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge back to 100% without interruption. That cycle forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell. Shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop after this single calibration cycle.

My X5 MAX battery percentage is jumping around erratically — 60% one minute, 45% the next.

Erratic percentage jumps mean the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating in real time because it has no accurate data for the new cell yet. The IC samples voltage and current and tries to estimate state of charge, but without a reference discharge curve it overcorrects between readings. Let the phone complete two full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycles — do not top up mid-cycle. After the second cycle the coulomb counter has enough data to report a stable percentage.

Fast charging stopped working on my VIVO X5 MAX after replacing the battery — it only charges slowly now.

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC defaults to a conservative 5V/1A profile because it has not yet confirmed the new cell's impedance characteristics. Some proprietary fast-charge protocols also require a BMS handshake that only completes after the first full cycle. Charge the phone once to 100% on a standard wall adapter, let it drain fully, then charge again — fast charging typically re-engages on the second cycle. Confirm your charger output matches the original VIVO specification before swapping the battery as the cause.
