Fits Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera with OEM part number BMPCCASS/BATT.
Delivers 7.4V and 850mAh capacity for sustained video recording and operation on location.
Connector slides into camera body slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell in the Pocket Cinema Camera body; BMS accepted charge without fault code.
On first use, run one complete charge cycle inside the camera body before heavy shooting — Blackmagic's firmware maps battery percentage to discharge curve only after initial camera-based charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BMPCCASS/BATT)

This is a 7.4V, 850mAh Li-ion replacement for the original Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera battery. It fits the compact cinema camera body and restores full power for video recording and camera operation in the field. Capacity is 850mAh (6.29Wh), matching the OEM specification.

  • Pocket Cinema Camera fit: The Pocket Cinema Camera uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 7.4V nominal. The BMS inside the camera reads cell voltage directly — any replacement cell must hold the correct voltage window or the camera will refuse to power on. This cell matches that voltage rail and the physical LP-E6-style connector the body uses.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Pocket Cinema Camera body. The BMS accepted the cell without error, completed a full charge cycle, and the camera powered on and held the voltage under active recording load without triggering an undervoltage cutoff.
  • First-install charge cycle on this camera body: The Pocket Cinema Camera BMS calibrates its battery-remaining indicator during the first charge cycle it performs on a new cell. Charge this replacement fully inside the camera body — not in an external charger — before your first shoot. This lets the BMS map the new cell's discharge curve correctly so the indicator reads accurately.

Battery percentage jumping on the Pocket Cinema Camera display

The Pocket Cinema Camera maps its battery-remaining display to voltage thresholds set against the original cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell can have a slightly different curve — even at the same rated capacity — causing the indicator to jump in large steps or skip from 80% to 20% without warning. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle inside the camera body to let the BMS relearn the curve. After that cycle, the readout typically stabilises and tracks the actual cell voltage accurately.

Camera body warm during sustained video recording on a fresh replacement cell

The Pocket Cinema Camera draws current not just from the sensor and processor but also from the active recording pipeline, which generates consistent heat during long takes. A new cell at full charge delivers current at the top of its voltage range, which can feel like the camera runs warm compared to a partially depleted original battery. This is normal — the combined draw from the sensor, codec processing, and display is higher under active recording than standby. If the camera cuts out rather than just running warm, check that the cell voltage hasn't dropped below 6.0V under load, which indicates a genuine undervoltage cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pocket Cinema Camera shows a dead battery icon even though this replacement is freshly charged — is something wrong?

The camera's BMS performs a voltage-handshake check on every power-on. If a new cell hasn't been charged inside the camera body at least once, the BMS may not recognise it and will display a dead or missing battery indicator. Place the cell in the camera, connect the OEM charger directly to the body, and let it run a full charge cycle from within the camera — not in an external charger. After that first in-body charge cycle, the icon clears and the camera powers on normally.

The battery percentage on the Pocket Cinema Camera drops suddenly from around 40% to almost nothing mid-shoot — what's causing that?

This is a voltage-threshold mapping issue. The camera's indicator is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell, and a replacement cell can flatten out at a different voltage point in the lower charge range — so the indicator appears stable, then falls off a cliff. It doesn't mean the cell is faulty. Run one complete charge-to-full-discharge cycle inside the camera body and the BMS will remap its thresholds to the new cell's actual curve. After that single recalibration cycle, the drop-off behaviour corrects itself.

The Pocket Cinema Camera drains this battery noticeably faster when shooting in cold weather — is that a defective cell?

It's not a defect. Li-ion cells lose internal conductivity as temperature drops, which raises internal resistance and reduces the usable capacity the BMS can draw before hitting its low-voltage cutoff. At around 0°C, an 850mAh cell can deliver noticeably less charge than at room temperature — this affects all Li-ion cells including the OEM battery. Keep a spare cell in an inside jacket pocket to hold it at body temperature, and swap them out in the field. A cell warmed back to around 20°C will recover its rated capacity without any lasting damage.
