Fits Bosch FuG10 and HFG10 two-way radios, replacing OEM battery B5850 and B5860 directly.
Delivers 12V at 500mAh capacity, sustaining portable radio transmission without voltage sag during extended shifts.
Connector slides vertically into the radio's battery slot with a positive locking tab that seats flush.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH cell in a FuG10 dock — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, no fault light.
On first charge in the FuG10 charger, the pack may show one bar instead of full after eight hours; remove and reseat the battery contact once to clear the voltage-threshold indicator.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch FuG10 / HFG10 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B5850 / B5860)

This is a 12V, 500mAh Ni-MH battery for the Bosch FuG10 and HFG10 portable two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers B5850 and B5860 directly. These units are used in professional and industrial communication environments where the original pack has degraded past usable capacity.

  • FuG10 and HFG10 platform fit: Both models share the same 12V pack format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement covers both radio variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit load on the FuG10 platform. The BMS held steady through PTT spikes and did not trip during sustained RF output bursts.
  • First insertion contact cycle: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The FuG10 dock requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before it will begin charging.

Why the FuG10 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically 1.1–1.2V per cell, not full charge. Under PTT load, that voltage sags hard enough for the BMS to read it as an undervoltage fault and cut output. The radio goes silent even though the pack is new. A full charge cycle before first use brings each cell up to ~1.4V and eliminates this sag. After one full charge, the cutout behaviour stops.

Bar indicator showing fewer bars than expected after fitting this pack

The FuG10 uses voltage-threshold bar indicators — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a fuel gauge reading. A freshly inserted, uncharged pack sits at storage voltage and will register one or two bars below what the radio shows at full charge. This is not a fault with the cell. Charge the pack fully and the indicator will step up to its correct bar count, which for a 12V Ni-MH pack aligns at approximately 13.2–14.4V under no-load conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FuG10 charger dock is blinking a fault LED and won't start charging — is the new pack dead?

The pack is almost certainly fine. The FuG10 dock checks contact resistance before it accepts a new BMS handshake, and any oil or oxidation on the contact strip will cause a fault blink. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the fault clears, charging begins normally — no further steps needed.

The radio cuts out every time I press PTT but recovers immediately after — what's causing this?

This is a transmit current spike tripping the BMS undervoltage threshold. When the FuG10 keys up, current draw jumps sharply and the pack voltage sags below the BMS cutoff point if the cells are not fully charged. The fix is straightforward: run a full charge cycle before the first use. Once cells are at their rated voltage per cell (~1.4V), the sag under PTT load stays within the BMS operating window and the cutout stops.

The radio drops to noticeably weaker transmit power mid-shift but the battery indicator still shows bars — why?

The bar indicator on the FuG10 is a voltage-threshold display, not a precise state-of-charge meter. As the pack discharges under sustained RF output, voltage sags enough to push the radio into reduced TX power mode before the indicator drops a bar. This is normal Ni-MH behaviour under high-draw use — the voltage curve is relatively flat until the final drop. Swap the pack when TX power feels weak; don't wait for the indicator to reach one bar.
