This happens when the BMS has not yet completed its learn cycle on a new cell. The charge indicator may show 100%, but the BMS is still estimating capacity against default OEM parameters calibrated to the original aged cell. The state-of-charge calculation drifts low, which trips the alarm threshold. Run one full charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle on the C70 to let the BMS recalibrate — after that cycle, the reported charge level will track the actual cell voltage accurately.

My C70 won't power on at all after the new battery sat in the box for a few months — is the pack dead?

Probably not dead, but the cell has self-discharged below the C70's BMS recovery threshold, which causes the monitor to see the pack as under-voltage and refuse to boot. Connect the C70 to mains power first and let it charge uninterrupted for at least two hours before pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle-charge the cell back above approximately 9V before the BMS will allow the pack to supply load current. Once that threshold is crossed, the monitor will boot normally.

The C70 keeps shutting off unexpectedly during monitoring sessions, but the battery indicator was showing above 50% when it happened — what's going on?

New lithium cells have higher internal resistance in the first ten charge cycles, which causes voltage sag under the C70's monitoring load profile. When the cell voltage dips briefly during a high-draw moment — such as the NIBP pump cycling — the BMS can read that transient sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shut the monitor down, even though resting state-of-charge appeared healthy. The charge indicator on the C70 has been sitting at 99% for over an hour and won't reach 100% — is the battery or charger faulty?

This is a normal protection behaviour that prevents overcharge stress on a fresh pack. Leave the unit on charge with mains connected and no active monitoring session running — the indicator will advance to 100% once the charge IC is satisfied the cell can hold the full voltage at 11.1V terminal. It typically resolves within one to two full charge cycles.
