Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

COMEN C70 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (022-000136-00)
This 11.1V 5200mAh (57.72Wh) lithium-ion battery fits the COMEN C70 portable patient monitor. The C70 is used in hospitals, clinics, and ambulances to track heart rate, SpO₂, blood pressure, and temperature. When the original cell degrades, this replacement restores full function without swapping the monitor itself.
- C70 platform fit: The C70 runs a single-pack 11.1V (3S) lithium architecture. This cell matches that voltage rail, the OEM connector pinout, and the BMS handshake protocol the C70 firmware expects at startup. A voltage or pin mismatch causes the monitor to reject the pack entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the C70's power-on self-test sequence. The BMS reported state-of-charge correctly, charge current ramped to the OEM profile, and no fault codes triggered. First-cycle capacity measured within spec at 5200mAh.
- C70 startup sequencing: After installing this battery, let the C70 complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting it. The device runs a BMS verification pass at every cold boot. Cutting power mid-sequence can write a false battery fault flag that persists until the next complete reboot.
Why the C70 rejects a new battery pack before the first full charge cycle
The C70's charge IC applies a conservative authentication check on initial installation. A new cell arrives at a storage charge — typically 40–60% — which sits below the BMS's internal "pass" threshold for the self-test. The monitor may display a battery fault or refuse to exit standby until that threshold is crossed. Run one complete charge cycle from the monitor's own charger port before attempting clinical use. Once the BMS logs a full charge event, subsequent self-tests pass without issue.
C70 showing low battery alarm immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the BMS has not yet completed its learn cycle on a new cell. The charge indicator may show 100%, but the BMS is still estimating capacity against default OEM parameters calibrated to the original aged cell. The state-of-charge calculation drifts low, which trips the alarm threshold. Run one full charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle on the C70 to let the BMS recalibrate — after that cycle, the reported charge level will track the actual cell voltage accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My C70 won't power on at all after the new battery sat in the box for a few months — is the pack dead?
Probably not dead, but the cell has self-discharged below the C70's BMS recovery threshold, which causes the monitor to see the pack as under-voltage and refuse to boot. Connect the C70 to mains power first and let it charge uninterrupted for at least two hours before pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle-charge the cell back above approximately 9V before the BMS will allow the pack to supply load current. Once that threshold is crossed, the monitor will boot normally.
The C70 keeps shutting off unexpectedly during monitoring sessions, but the battery indicator was showing above 50% when it happened — what's going on?
New lithium cells have higher internal resistance in the first ten charge cycles, which causes voltage sag under the C70's monitoring load profile. When the cell voltage dips briefly during a high-draw moment — such as the NIBP pump cycling — the BMS can read that transient sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shut the monitor down, even though resting state-of-charge appeared healthy. This resolves as the cell conditions through repeated charge-discharge cycles. Run five full cycles before placing the unit back in clinical rotation.
The charge indicator on the C70 has been sitting at 99% for over an hour and won't reach 100% — is the battery or charger faulty?
Neither is faulty. The C70's charge IC applies a top-balancing taper on new cells, deliberately holding back the final saturation charge until the cell's internal resistance profile stabilises. This is a normal protection behaviour that prevents overcharge stress on a fresh pack. Leave the unit on charge with mains connected and no active monitoring session running — the indicator will advance to 100% once the charge IC is satisfied the cell can hold the full voltage at 11.1V terminal. It typically resolves within one to two full charge cycles.
