Cells outside the expected voltage window cause the device to reject the battery before powering on. This pack matches that voltage rail and passes the BMS handshake without modification.

Why the H3 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The H3's charge IC applies a conservative voltage threshold for new cells on the first cycle. A freshly charged new pack may read 97–99% state of charge internally but still fall short of the BMS acceptance threshold calibrated for a conditioned cell. This triggers a low-battery alarm even though the pack is not depleted. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle before clinical deployment — after that cycle, the BMS recalibrates against the actual cell behaviour and the alarm clears.

H3 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 9V, the H3's BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and refuses to power the device. The fix is a slow pre-charge — place the battery on the H3 charger and leave it connected for at least 90 minutes before attempting to boot the monitor. This allows the charge IC to recover the cell voltage above the BMS re-initialisation threshold, typically 10.5V, before normal charging resumes.

This is usually a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a faulty cell. The H3 runs a verification sequence at boot and flags cells that haven't completed one full charge-discharge cycle yet. Charge the pack to full, run the monitor until it signals low battery, then recharge fully. That single cycle gives the BMS enough data to clear the fault.

The H3 shuts off unexpectedly during monitoring even though the battery showed adequate charge.

The H3 draws heavier loads during alarm events and display-intensive readings, and new cells show higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles. That resistance causes a brief voltage sag under load that the BMS reads as a cutoff condition. The shutdowns typically stop after the cell completes its break-in cycles — run five full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery in a continuous monitoring environment.

The charge indicator on the H3 won't reach 100% on the first few charges with the new battery.

The H3's charge IC applies a reduced top-off current to new cells as a protective measure on early cycles. This is normal behaviour — the indicator is reflecting a conservative state-of-charge estimate, not actual cell capacity. After two to three full cycles, the charge IC adjusts its algorithm to the cell's actual characteristics and the indicator reaches 100% as expected.
